For the second time now, that dome piece that connects to the ear cup to the headband broke off the same way it did with my first pair. I really like these headphones and i don't want to go though the pain of waiting for another pair. Any suggestions on repair?

Dbuchina899Okay, how did you do the same thing for twice in a row? What is your typical use of the TH-X00 and do you have a hardcase for transporting it?

VRacer111Yes, i had used my beyerdynamic T1 case for these, since they are more delicate than the T1's. I went to take them out one day and in the same scenario from a cold environment to a warm environment, i go to put them on my head and snap. I take well care of my things, especially expensive ones like this. That piece should be a stronger material IMO. My typical use for these is either at home, a long car ride which is rare or if i'm going to be somewhere for a couple days or so i would take them with me.

Dbuchina899Well you do seem to take care of your stuff. Yeah, in the name of light weight design it seems to be a failure point by using a material that is basically brittle in its failure mode when subjected to shock loads, that's what is bad about magnesium alloys. A heavier weighing aluminum piece or thin steel piece (like on Monolith M1060) would probably be better for that piece. I guess I've been fortunate with my Denon AH-D2000 being problem free for nearly a decade and my PH's from the original drop being good as new with daily transportation to/from work.

VRacer111well, it is unfortunate, I really did like these headphones :( I’ll stick around and try a different pair maybe.

Dbuchina899I've had good luck with mine thus far, but you've successfully scared me into leaving them on my desk and never bringing them home again. Congrats!
(In reality though, condolences, I'm sorry for your loss)

Dbuchina899Use some black velcro to secure the mechanism. Works wonder for me (with one not broken though) and it doesn't look so bad. Attach first the dome piece then go up not straight up but in a S shape to fill the gap between both parts .
