I have the original HE-400, as well as a V Moda M100 for that v-shaped sound.
Are these purplehearts better in any way, or more detailed, or even more fun than either of those two for electronic music?

BigSkyWhat did you think? Interested to know what a V-Moda user thinks.
purplezorzman, seriously - that is a silly premise to begin with - V-moda doesn't make ANY set of headphones that is even remotely in the league of the Purpleheart Fostex, in fact, I really can't think of many cans at all that compete, that are sub-$1000

burrito-rustlerMaybe - but the point being since everything is relative in sound, I have heard V-Moda cans and I have not heard Fostex cans. Since everyone already knows the bass on the V-Modas is awesome, it would make a good comparison in that department. I'm aware that since people are saying the resolution of sound of the Purplehearts is around the same or sometimes even better than the Senny HD 650/6XXs (specifically NOT referring to the bass in this case), the V-Moda's cannot compete in that department. If the Purplehearts have V-Moda-level bass potential with Senny mid-level can resolution, then I will have a very versatile can than I can manipulate using EQ to suit my listening session (Heavy Dubstep vs Ambient Bass Music). Only other can I can think of that would be interesting to compare to in this area would be the Sony MDR-Z7s since I seem to gravitate to the Sony house sound. ( I have the XB-1000 (which I don't actually like that much) and the 1000X . Recently demo'd the MDR-1A which I really love for the price). The problem I have with "Bass" cans is that when some serious sub bass comes on, they start crying (I'm staring at you (DT-770). V-Moda doesn't do that. Not the clearest cans, but no distortion of loud low bass is rare. Still want to try the JVC sz2000 at some point...though all the new rage is the Kannons - but I digress.
