Hi, i have Denon AH-D7200 how different would the TH-X00 sound in comparison ? I listen to bass heavy music a lot, should i rather get the TH-X00 or the TH900 ? Thanks :)

Bapeape88If u absolutely needed more bass and want the red cups then the TH900 is worth the hassle. U will have to buy TH610 pads for it tho

Bapeape88Since you want a lot of bass so in that case TH900 might be better but as DenonFanboy said you'll need to get TH610 pads (or TH-X00 pads) for it since TH900's stock pad is a little bit too V shaped (unless you like that, can probably try it first before ordering).
Though in terms of technical ability and detail I think your AH-D7200 is pretty much up there being better than ALL of the Fostex variants from what I've read. So at this point you're not getting "better" headphone you're just getting a "different" headphone.

Bapeape88Think the Audeze LCD2 classic might be down your alley, they got monstrous bass and are kind of a good deal at 799$.
Here’s the inner fidelity review https://www.innerfidelity.com/content/audeze-lcd2-classic-open-over-ear-planar-magnetic-headphones-page-2

DenonFanboyOh yeah LCD2 would be a great choice it probably has "less" bass but definitely extends deeper and more textured bass (better bass).
I guess they're cheaper nowadays eh?

HydeLCD2 isn't any cheaper. The LCD2 Classic is a slightly cheaper build, targeting the LCD2 sound (not sure which iteration of it with the various revisions though, having not looked into them much). Ditching the lambskin and wood setup drops the price a bit. Regular LCD2 is still $1000

ProfessorPatI can confirm from owning both that the Classics have a built quality of the same if not more, more metal is used. They are also much more comfortable and the cable is of a higher standard.

dnalekawI didn’t expect them to be cheaply made. I just expect the cost to be lower due to ditching the wood and leather setup. Both require more time and attention than a more predictable and reliably consistent material would, which is going to raise costs unless the replacement material is more expensive than the time it saves. I expect the LCD2C to be cheaper to produce, not cheap by any means.

Bapeape88I have this one in original version, TH900 MK II, LCD 2F, Sennheiser HD800S, Beyerdynamic T1, T5P, AKG K702, B&W P7, and bunch of other mid-fi headphones I can’t name off from my head. I tend to use TH900 MKII most of the time. Bass is surreal. it is better than LCD 2F IMHO. More Quantity and quality. I can feel sub bass when it is called for in the music. Very fun headphones. Also, I haven’t touched thx00 after initial listen after Burn in. It sounded nothing special to my ears.

Bapeape88Hope you got TH900 delivered. I remembered this tread as I am using them right now. I was back and forth with different headphones and these definitely have more clean and deep base compared to LCD 2F. LCD 2F sounds muddy compared to TH900. Hope you enjoy them.

andypak01Just out of curiosity did you use the TH900 as is? Some people find they don't like the stock ear pad since it make the mid recessed. Did you swap to TH610 pad or just kept the stock ear pad?

I use it as it is. No change of pad. I have normal ears and they don’t touch my ear as some people say. I would think those people have elf ears protruding outward. Stock pads fit me fine and I don’t want to alter sound with change of pads. It sounds great as it is. you can feel the sub-base rumble. It is both fun and analytical if that makes sense. You don’t have to sacrifice one for the other. I don’t feel mid is recessed. With the base as good as it is, one would think it will affect mids and highs; but it sounds right to my ears. I also have Sennheiser HD800S and use IE800 as in-ears so I have good source to compare with.
