Canceling my order. I had assumed that since this was limited to 1k units, there was the possibility that this would be the only chance to get a pair of these. It's obvious that the 1k limitation was just there to get people to click the buy button now rather than later, because it might fill up! Really tacky on massdrop's part.
Also, there is no word on whether this is the last variation, or if there are more in the works (sounds like there almost definitely are), so I guess I'll just wait till there is a more reasonable turnaround time.

musgratDid you guys not read Will's Original Post? He was very clear that it might be bumped up to 2,000. There was nothing dishonest about it. If you spent $450 on headphones and didn't even read his post then perhaps you should be questioning your own due diligence before attacking his reputation.

musgratThis happens every time they do a custom run like this... they say X are available and then end up raising it to 2-2.5X by the end, depending on demand. I have no doubt they'll be running more drops of this variant in the future, and it's probable they'll make other variants too.

musgratThe demands are there, of course they will make more in the future. Not sure about new variation (I hope not because that is hard to resist), but subsequent drop is sure to happen. But to be fair, miss this and the next drop will probably ship next year. That's the reason I joined this drop and pending my other purchase. :)

musgratMD said from the very beginning they would probably bump the number of purplehearts sold to 2,000. Their plan to release an additional thousand headphones appears in the gray box on the product page and always has. MD didn't pull a scam in order to get people to buy the purplehearts. They merely expected people to read the part of the product page that pertained to this drop.
