Hello, I just joined, primarily for the audiophile products. Looking at purchasing the NHT C3 speakers for our new living room. Space is about 15 feet wide by 33 long and they will fire long ways. Space is just for general listening, music room with all equipment is downstairs, so hoping they will fill it with sound nicely. Cheers.

I did some research, ended up grabbing some of this https://www.turtlewax.com/shop/products/turtle-wax-renew-rx-premium-rubbing-compound-18-fl-oz- and these http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/autocraft-microfiber-applicator-pads-2-pack-ac266/10032773-P from my local auto supply store.
I applied a nickel-sized dab of the rubbing compound directly to the center of the applicator pad. I used a paper towel to spread it about. Then I rubbed it on the earcups. Circular motions of course! A couple of counter-clockwise turns and a small amount of pressure, and then a wipedown with a different microfiber cloth -- and voila! Nearly all of the lacquer blemishes have been buffed out of sight. There is still one particularly nasty blemish on the right earcup, which was the worst offender to begin with, and is plainly visible in good light. It's not "bubblewrap" shaped, so whatever caused it was likely under more strain.
You can still barely make out the blemishes (all of them) under perfect lighting, but had the headphones been shipped to me in this condition, I likely would have never noticed. I'd consider them "fixed". I did not follow up with any polish, it doesn't seem necessary to me. I'm just glad my headphones no longer look like an octopus fondled them before shipping.
Might be a good idea for massdrop to consider some kind of educational thread on woodcup maitenance, and/or a drop that includes wood cup maintenance products. I gave my mahoganies a once over with the same stuff as above, and the result is pretty nice. I'm sure it could be improved with wood-specific products.
Will write another update when I've completed my side-by-side test with the Mahoganies.
