Hey everyone, Monday update with polish test results.
Worked pretty great! Package arrived with a nice Fostex branded cloth and a little container of white polish. Took me about 10 minutes with minimal effort and the end result was a clean earcup. I only did two passes, but will probably do another one just to test it. Included is a before and after picture and short video to illustrate.
At this point in time we're going to move ahead with offering the polish kit to those who would like to try it.
To recap real quick, the options right now are: 1) Return headphones and get full refund 2) Receive polish kit and test it out 2a) Like how it works, keep headphones 2b) Do not like how it works, send headphones back for a full refund
If you have any pack mark's *and haven't already let us know*, please contact Community Support to let them know so they can add you to the list of affected users. We'll send out the polish kits as soon as we receive them from Fostex, who has estimated that the first 300 kits will be delivered to us by the end of the month(September).
Thanks for all your patience and we will let you know when we receive the polish kits and start shipping them out.

AlexPki´ve been disconnected from this bubble wrap incident. what do i need to do to get this kid for my PH (do you need photographic evidence which i´ll gladly send), is there a price to pay?

AlexPkAlex ~ since I am not allowed to buy the Mahogany (I paid for in June) and did get my refund for today ~ I know there were several people who sent back the PH's ~ will you let me buy one of those? I would take a Mahogany but since that's not an option and I am actually in this drop, not the other one ~ can I buy one of the returned PH's? Please

AlexPkI do a couple web shows (have over 3,000 FB friends that follow) and could even do something like a "review" etc. and would still pay for them ~ just thinking out loud as far as maybe buying them direct from you guys for review purposes rather than through a "drop" order ~ again, just thinking out loud, whatever you can do (if anything) would be appreciated

AlexPkAlex, I don't mean to be an a**hole but if getting replacement cups is no longer an option and we can only send back the phones for a refund what does Massdrop plan on doing with all the returns? Are they just going to be sold again in the next drop? Is the factory going to remanufacture them with new cups before reselling them? If so it seems like it would be cheaper to just send us replacement cups, I have serial # 20. The way you guys have it now the best plan is everybody with problems should just get a refund and buy them again later when there is proof that the quality control is fixed. Also will the polish also fix the scuff marks and light scratches on the finish or is it only strong enough for bubble marks?

Turbo_ALNo worries. Most of your questions are kind of above my level of knowledge regarding Fostex's plans and such, but I'll try to get @Will in here if he has more insight.
As for the polish, mine didn't seem to have any major defects outside of the bubble wrap marks. Though even after only two pass overs it went from a blemished, dull luster to an almost mirror finish. It seems to be a very very fine grit (is that how they measure polish?) so I would definitely put it more in the finishing category than refinishing. I think it would mostly depend on how deep the scuff/scratch is, but light ones seemed to come out just fine. My personal stance is to try it out. Worst case you can still get the refund and best case they look like they should.
In any case, definitely contact Community Support if you haven't already so they can help out.

AlexPkLooks good but is there any chance the polish could take the logo off? Or is the logo under the clear coat?

PieceOfTauLogo is under the clear coat so you should be fine. I tried rubbing pretty vigorously to see if the cloth/polish would scratch the finish or damage it in some way, and it all looked fine.
