Nightmare. Massdrop notifies me that it was delivered. There was no package. Contacted massdrop for support but tells me that they are unable to initiate claims for missing shipments on your behalf. I went and filed a claim with Fedex. I CAN'T, because only the company that shipped you this package can file a claim on it. Support just stopped replying to my emails. Seriously, WTF Massdrop.

You pay in advance and in full. To be fair, I can only really speak for myself and my purchase. They probably didn't want it to happen the way it did just as much as I do. I guess all I can say is don't expect much from post-sales as with bigger players like Amazon. Doubly so if you're overseas. I can't reach USPS online and so far I'm not getting any support with FedEx.

openjupdate: Massdrop offered their 'Logistics Team' would look into my case vs not filing a dispute with my cc company. CC company gave me a deadline to file the dispute or forfeit my money. I've been in contact with another buyer who never received his package, and it's been almost a month with no results for him. Not a difficult decision to make.

openjAbsolutely! just had the same issue and it took me months to clear up! Does Fed-EX indicate that the package was delivered to you? Generally (and I live in Bushwick, Brooklyn, NYC....so maybe things are different where you are; but I doubt that) Fed-EX REQUIRES a signature for any package with a value over $100. That being said, IF you never signed for them, and no one else can provide positive proof of wher the F... your package is; then call your credit card company and tell them NOT to honor the charge. At that point you may or may not get resolution but, beware that MassDrop will no longer want to do business with you! This very same thing happened to me regarding the same model Fostex Mahogany. Apparently the address said my name and then just Brooklyn, NY with my zip! How the hell was the package supposed to get delivered?? MD blamed it on me for screwing up my address (which I told them was impossible since I had just gotten AKG 7XX the monthe before?? At any rate, literally months later of back and forth e-mails and FINALLY someone got off their ass and verified that indeed, I did not receive package and ion point of fact, verified that said package was returned to whomever sends this Chinese made flotsam so as a result they will now do business with me again. In the meantime, just about every (NOT ALL) set of headphones, headphone amps, dacs, whatever,....that comes on as a "special drop," I find that I can purchase on Amazon and with Prime, I get the ability to send it back after a 30 day trial period (try and do that with MD) for free!!! I used to love MD but lately, methinks they've been infected with the sickness of greed and thus have lost sight of tyheir original idea of taking recommendations and inspirations from the Audiophile community and turned it into a quasi-pyramid scheme. I say this not only because of my experience w/them but because I've been reading about very MANY similar such occurences happening the exact same way! Must be a certain amount of validity here!

Bubbles_SweYou can find almost the same pair on Amazon of some of the 2nd hand stereo/audio sites like audiogon and the like! BTW,...a freind ordered and recieved these same mahoganies on the last drop. He's a basshead so he loves them (IMHO, there are far more cans to consider than just these, if you want bass) but, I would wait until the Ebony is available again. Far more refined and neutral (yet rich) sounding. BTW.....let any headphone tht you do buy burn in for at least 100 hours. I know many say this is BS,....but take it from me. I'm 64 yrs. young and I've doing stereo since "Meet the Beatles!" Headphons are nothing more than electric equipment and the electric flux generation you have the more it will change the sound charachter of the hedset (up to a point, mind you) after a couple of hundred hours the sound wil become less and less noticable! Good luck, Bubbles!

Yeah probably - but I'm located in Sweden and I would really prefer to buy it with fairly easy access to warranty and the sorts.. I saw one pair of these tho on a swedish site but the seller seems to have disappeared a few weeks ago.. I am very much leaning towards ordering these; I've been using Denon AH-D2000 since 2009 but theyre basicly beyond repair now (I've had to glue the headband on one side and the pads are seriously worn out, they work but theyre really not pretty) And the only place that does a tune-up and changes cups/pads etc does no longer take D2000s (something about different fittings for cups in 5k and fostex models i think?) Besides its the headband/plastic stuff that's the kinda broken..
Either way I bought a pair of sennheiser game zero (supposedly 598 with a mic boom) but I am not happy about the fit, or the sound - I am well aware headphones need to be burn in; which is what I let my sennheisers do since christmas now; and I am still not very happy about the result; but more importantly they fit badly on my head and I get uncomfortable after ~2-3 hours. When I saw these on massdrop today my heart skipped a beat, because I know I will be happy with a pair of these in terms of comfort & from what I understand in reviews the sound is even better than my d2ks.
It's basicly either these or the EMU's but theyre honestly a bit out of my price range, even $415 is a stretch for my current budget but I really want to get a proper pair of headphones i can cherish for another 7+ years. After all I use my headphones on a daily basis for hours, that's why I'm willing to spend to get these.
Regarding the Ebony cups that would probably fit me very well in terms of sound; but to be honest I would prefer to get the headphones within a month.. Not sure that would happen if I sit and wait for ebony cups, unfortunately..
I'll very likely return the sennheisers & order these thanks to some additional funds in form of birthday money (whoa did my birthday come at a good time; on friday)

Bubbles_SweHi Bubbles, You considered the Head-Fi sales forum? There's plenty for sale on there, and often a great deal can be found. That way you can look now, and (hopefully) save some dosh! Usually plenty of photos are included, and you can often PM the seller for more photos/info : https://goo.gl/gv9wSE (general forum).
