How would these compare to open cans like HE500s? My current cans in order of preference are HE500, 7XX, HD700 and I have a slew of others collecting dust. My listening room has Martin Logan Vantage with Marantz mono amps and DD15+ picking up the low end. There's a a mix of upstream components. HD800s give me a splitting headache, PS1000 make me want to maim someone, and so many other "flagship" cans having me shake my head and return them to the craigslist route.
I know this whole "hobby" is subjective, I don't have golden ears, and I can't(won't) hear the difference between interconnects, but I'm always on the lookout for better sound, to me.
