I've listened to mine for a few hours now. I can't describe the sound the way many others here might. I only know if I like what I'm hearing. And I LOVE what I'm hearing. I've purchased the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x, the Sennheiser 598s, the Beyerdynamic DT 990 Premium 250 Ohm, and the Massdrop AKG K7xx. The Fostex TH-X00 is producing the sounds that I always wanted but couldn't afford. I'm using a Little Dox MKIII amp for home usage and an iBasso DX-50 with a Cayin C5 for portable usage. Again, I LOVE what I'm hearing. And isn't that what it's all about? I am very excited and proud that I made this purchase. Thanks to Massdrop and all involved in making this happen!

jazzfuzeI can second these thoughts...I was REALLY surprised when I put them on and started the music on my Nexus 6p. They sound amazing to my ears, and I'm generally inclined towards headphones with low end tilt. But the vocals on any song I've chosen are just amazing, and treble (which I'm sensitive to) seems just right. These gorgeous headphones really came to life with my portable amp (JDS c5d). HOWEVER, I must point out that the adapter that came w the headphones does not play well. I had an extra laying around, and used it instead - the sound is like night and day different.

HouseThere are a few options like the Grado Mini and the 1/4 to 1/8 adapters Sennheiser makes.

NERVThank you, Grado Mini doesn't look like it's that costly. Although unless the adapter it comes with isn't made to specifications, it really shouldn't impact sound quality. Let's see what other members say.

NERVI think the Grado Mini is a better option than the Sennheiser adapter. I have the HD598 and if you use the included Senn adapter it's a 3.5" long solid piece (including the strain relief) that sticks out of the 3.5mm jack, putting physical stress on the jack if you happen to tug the cable to the sides. I ended up buying a shorter than stock 3rd party cable off eBay for my HD598 that is natively 3.5mm and it included a 6.3mm adapter because it costs almost the same as just the Grado Mini adapter up here in Canada. But since the cable on these Fostex are non-removable, then I think the Grado Mini adapter is the best bet IMHO.

HouseI picked up a Hosa MHE100.5 Headphone Adapter Cable (1/4-Inch F to 3.5MM M, 6") for $5.48 from Amazon. I'm five day's in on the adapter and it works well. the 1/4-Inch connection fits snug and the build quality for the price (budget) is great! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000068O6B?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00 I do plan on picking up the Grado Mini that NERV mentioned for comparison. My main reason for the purchase was to take pressure off the 3.5mm connection.
