It says: "Domestic orders will be shipped by Massdrop."
So who will ship international orders?

obsidyenFostex
obsidyenInternational orders are handled by a third-party freight forwarding partner (not Massdrop or Fostex).

WillThat's fine, but the forwarder get the headphones from you anyway, right? I thought maybe that sentence meant international orders will be shipped from China directly.
obsidyenNah, forwarder gets them from us. International customer orders, shipping info goes to forwarder, product goes to forwarder, product goes to customer.

WillThe only extra cost for international shipping through your forwarder are the 15$ marked on the page correct, the price is uniform for any region that places an international order or may there be additional costs for certain countries? I'm assuming there won't be seeing as that's the only shipping costs I see marked or indicated anywhere but I'm just curious.
Also any idea how much longer these would take getting to international customers (particularly in Europe) compared to one of your regular drops? I'm sure all of these questions have been answered previously but catching up on 200 pages of comments is not exactly light reading.
VigrithThat $15 is all the money we collect. That'll cover the shipping from the freight forwarder to your door. That said, it does not cover any taxes, import duties, etc.
As far as shipping time goes, ~3 weeks is what most people have been reporting.

WillHey Will I'm interested in the drop however I previously noticed that a Canadian customer (like myself) purchased the AKG K7XX and was charged an additional fee by DHL. Would that be the case in this situation? DHL is known to have handling fees in Canada and that would mean we'd have to pay an additional fee to the $15 for shipping (excluding taxes, & import duties).
Thanks so much in advance,
Derek

Dmm320I can pitch in since I was part of the first wave.
First, the DHL brokerage fee will be charged along with the duty. Second, DHL is only going halfway on the shipping. Canada Post takes over once it reaches to the Canadian side. Third, the duty and fee in total had a large range...some mentioned around $30-40 (West Coast), I got charged ~$80 (Ontario, go figure). To put it into perspective, the brokerage fee is minor compared to the duty.
Honestly, the horrible exchange rate is already a joke itself. You're looking forward to paying at least $600CAD with or without the fee.

the-goldfishThank you for letting me know this information, I'm located in British Columbia so luckily the duties should be around $30 plus the brokerage fees (probably around ~$10-20). Unfortunately the duties and fees was $80 for you :(
Just to clarify the $80 includes the brokerage fees charged by DHL and the applicable Taxes and Duties correct?
I agree the exchange rate is a joke. I was expecting the cost to be around $600-630 CAD except I wasn't completely sure if the DHL brokerage fee would be some astronomical rate (from previous experiences).
This is one of the main sources I used to determine the total cost. http://www.dutycalculator.com/new-import-duty-and-tax-calculation/saved_calculations/view_details/199416111
Also I had a couple more questions if you wouldn't mind answering.
1. How do you find the sound stage and imaging of the Fostex Th-X00? I am planning to use them for music and for gaming and having a large sound stage and strong imaging (to hear the distant noises and where those noises are coming from) allows me to pinpoint enemy locations in first person shooter games which is one of the main other reasons I was very keen on getting these headphones as I've read through many reviews that the soundstage is great.
2. Would I need an amp/dac for these headphones? I know the headphone has a very low ohms of impedance rating and can be easily driven by portable devices, however would a cheap amp/dac (~$200 max) do anything for my audio experience (I use my Blue Yeti's built in Dac for my headphones)?
Thank you so much,
Derek

Dmm3201. No experience.
2. I found my motherboard's audio to be better than the Blue Yeti's amp/DAC (not sure what exactly what the Yeti has, it just sounded too colored). It seems to me that if you're spending $400 on headphones, then you'll probably get more headphones around the same price range (give or take a couple hundred) some time in the future. Unless we're talking IEMs, most headphones in this range will require an amp and DAC to sound their best (for most mid-fi+ headphones, you'll notice a bigger difference with an amp, because of impedance over 50 Ohms). Consider investing long term in an O2+ODAC/Magni+Modi setup.

Dmm320HOPEFULLY it will be in the 30s, but there are no guarantees because it ultimately depends on what the customs agent feels this should be taxed in whichever category it belongs to.
As for your questions... 1. I wouldnt use it for gaming only because i find the bass on these a bit too strong.
2. Yes and no. Sound is subjective and whether youre willing to experiment (with your wallet). Some people are happy with plugging it into onboard sound or their phone, others try to seek something better...then, theres possibly the placebo effect where you have just spent a large amount of equipment therefore it has to be amazing.
Buy the headphones first. Amp/DAC comes second.

Dmm320If this is handled by DHL via the global postal system rather than DHL express, it's handed off to Canada post once it enters here.
If it's Canada post, it'll either be no tax at all, or $9.99 COD fee + tax (GST/PST/HST) on converted value (from USD$). I find Canada post sometimes let's stuff by, esp. if it's a smaller package or if it's a busy season - not sure. My K7xx was never assessed anything, I received that during the holiday season. But a keyboard I got that was valued cheaper than the K7xx was dinged.
Just glad they don't use UPS inbound, they're just a $h*t show coming from overseas.

the-goldfishThank you so much for the info. I just recently discovered the sennheiser hd 700 and I'm not sure which headphone to purchase now. I know one's closed back and one is open back however both have very good sound quality and both are a pretty good price (400 for the fostex and 425 for the sennheiser @ amazon). Still unsure which to purchase haha.

PsychetronThank you very much for this info! That makes it even clearer for me as I saw another person on the akg k7xx forum post that he was charged a tax as well as a $10 fee.
