So now that I joined this drop here's the ultimate question, these seem to be easy to drive and will obviously scale well but will my current o2 be enough? It certainty is enough for the K7XX's right now and my IEM's but will these suffer greatly from it?

TheTerriblePuddleIt can drive, but is it sufficient. Depends on what you have. It is not enough for inefficient headphones, especially planars that need a lot of current at low ohms. O2 gives 613 mW @ 33 ohms according to their site and it takes about 600mW @ 35 ohms with 400i to reach 90 dB according to Tyll. 90 dB is pretty loud, but beware that max output is not the same as constant output. O2 probably reaches its ceiling when driving 400i and other headphones like HE-500, 560, 6 with higher resistance and less efficient than 400i will need more current than that, a lot more. A phone can drive all headphones, but is it the same as plugged into sufficient amp, definitely not. Same thing. However, th-x00 is a tad bit more efficient with less resistance, so O2 should do fine.

TheTerriblePuddleI find this to be true but it also will make a smaller stage of anything it seems, it also has sibalance issues at low volume but that is easy to work around.

Leffeyeah this was the part I was concerned about, they do seem very efficient though.

Leffewhere did Tyll say that it takes 600mW to drive the HE400i to 90dB at 35 ohms? It certainly doesn't. 600mW will drive the HE400i to 118.9 dB. (however, the HE400i may not actually be 35 ohms like the spec sheet says, it may be more like 50 ohms, however, the 02 can still drive the HE400i well in excess of 115 dB, even if the actual impedance is 50).

rvcjewReally, the only thing it won't be able to drive is something like an HE-6. The O2 isn't the greatest amp in the world (though it is very, very good), but it's not power that it lacks.

rvcjewI have owned Fostex TH-X00, AKG 7XX and O2 amp/DAC since last year, plus I have changed better quality USB cable and special side ordered the original adapter for the O2.
So till now, already more than a month after listened and tested, (just my personal true experience and thought without related with any other website forum like head fi), O2 power is good enough to drive AKG 7XX and Fostex TH-00X however the sound is not really what I like.
The best about O2 is the background 100% silence (without any distortion, ground hiss and noisy hump), provides natural clean sound and clear vocal, however not really suitable for the bass lover like me, hardly hear any punch, tight and real smooth bass.
Beside AKG and Fostex, I also have tried to pair with other good quality branded headphone with O2, so far BMW P7 is the best partner, Sony Z7 and VModa M100 still acceptable and DR.Dre beats studio 2.0 is the worst result from what I have heard.
The Actual of AKG, Fostex, Philip X2 and ATM-50X are famous in beautiful bass headphone, I can hear such a big different when pair with Oppo HA2 portable DAC AMP, just feel disappointment such a waste when use with O2 DAC AMP.
Of course, I don't expect everyone must agree with what I have listened and tested, nothing is perfect in this world, every one has our own opinion or different thought. Hopefully, my experience might be helpful.
