So I bought these, knowing I'll likely have to pay 21% vat + 15€ customs duty on top of it. (Belgium) Man it's a lot of money, but seeing these compete at the very high end but being discounted so much makes it totally worth it. On top of that my AKG K240 MKII have now lasted me 5 years+ and still going strong. Headphones, like lenses, can be a thing that lasts a lifetime when taken proper care of. It's an investment for sure.

ZerrethIt does not really compete with high end headphones, it mostly is a matter of aspect. SOME would subjectively perceived them being better than SOME more expensive phone at SOME area, but that is nothing certain.
You are totally able to find "better to you" headphones at just $100 to $200 more, or even less.
These do has the potential to be great to perfect for one in the event of one's preference and equipment matches. But if you were buying these only because they are said by some to be world beater steal then it is never a safe bet, especially when you have to pay those many extras.

innaterebelWell, by that logic one could find skullcandy & "gaming" headphones better than proper AKG / Sennheiser headphones. From what I've heard of these and what headphones they are compared to they perform far above their asking price, and it being a massdrop & fostex collab, you won't be able to get them anywhere else. Are a lot of those audio reviews subjective ? Absolutely. But when so many are praising them so much, there must be something good about them. On top of that, I'm absolutely certain that flipping these here in Europe would actually gain you a small profit.
