stop being greedy and think wisely. Make proper decision. If your ear can't even comprehend the details in a 40$ headphone and a 400$ headphone, then it's not worth it. Don't buy if you don't understand what you are doing.
If you are new to headphones or audiophile stuff, I suggest you buy something that is not too expensive and go for a sub-100$ headphone like the Sennheiser HD598 or ATH-M50X.
Replying mostly because I know what it's like to be 17 and buying something expensive.
As Drizz1e said, chill out. We don't take satisfaction based returns, but you can sell them on head-fi or ebay for $400 any time you want.

WillI can't believe you play DotA
lvince95Crossed 1000 games last week. Still terrible.
WillAhaha I was mid-way through writing this esteemed member of our community a reply, but it seems everything I'd have said has been. +1 for the Freudian Photoshop.
WillMMR? Been to the last TI, hopefully I'll get tickets to TI6.

Welcome aboard, TherapistGarfield. I'm a first-time Fostex buyer too. From everything I've heard and read, I think these headphones are going to be really great.
Some people are looking for that one Holy Grail among headphones. Personally, I like having different headphones with different sound characteristics. That way, I can mix things up depending on my mood or what type of music I'm listening to.

MassdropTakeMyMoneyCalibrated at 3k, climbed pretty close to 4k a couple years ago, now I'm chillin around 2.5k. Jelly that you made it to TI5, would have liked to see the first American Esports championship in-person. Probably won't make it TI6, gotta keep making dope headphones.
WillDefinitely keep up the good work on the headphones! I cannot wait to listen to them. Dota is a game that really can't be mastered, or even comprehended without about 100 games or hours under your belt. Sounds like you've done the grind in the past though so you know. I'd highly recommend checking out TI6, the crowd energy is amazing and it's a fun city. The Secret Shop leveraged me a fair amount of value, paying for a large portion of my stay entertainingly. I'd love to see some sort of Valve/Massdrop collaboration in the future, us dota fans are all over! Hope ya can make it.

SenorPlatanoI'm likely modifying mine to use 2.5mm mounts. I've heard the cable is a beast and unfortunately it wouldn't work great for my desk.

SenorPlatanoThe cable seems quite easy to replace if it becomes a problem. If you can't figure it out yourself anyone with any technical skills could pretty much pull it off. You can check it out in this review toward the bottom... http://www.head-fi.org/t/788776/fostex-x-massdrop-th-x00-review
