I had these for a few months and ultimately sold them because I could never enjoy their V curve [pronounced bass and treble]. The bass especially was too dominating. For vocals they were pretty much a disaster for me - way too recessed. Their strongest point was making lossy music sound pretty ok. Lossless how ever no so much. Apart from impact TH-X00 has nothing on a properly driven burned in AKG K7XX . I did my listening on Grace Design m9xx and Graham Slee Ultra Linear.

causticAs a Basshead, i'll never buy an open AKG headphone especially due to its lack of bass (or an HD800S for that matter, way too clinical for, and not fun). Given your description, it's no surprise you did not like the TH-X00.

lossendaeI can understand. And the TH-X00 should be perfect for you and other bass heads, who enjoy their mids recessed.
