Why is 1/4 in plug the default? I was thinking about getting those but 1/4" to 1/8" adapter and then a dac/amp to use with my laptop would be quite uncomfortable to deal with.

Lostman1/4 inch plug is the default audiophile standard. The higher end audiophile amps often have 1/4 inch headphone output. If you were to pair this with the Grace Design x Massdrop m9XX DAC/Amp; it has two 1/4 inch headphone outputs.

dnosic16It's an OK solution but a little bit clunky. I would like something like Dragonfly Black/Red or Centrance DACport Slim + headphones. With Dragonfly it wouldn't be too bad for sitting on a couch. If you throw this adapter into the mix then it'll be a pile of ugly cables dangling of the side of my laptop. Isn't it better to go 1/8 -> 1/4?

LostmanIt just makes the headphones slightly longer and end in a 3.5 mm right angle. Also the cord is 10 feet so I would look elsewhere if you don't want a ton of cable lying around. Unless you wanna do a detachable cable mod.
