Moneymillz24they are the same headphones, from what i understand. same drivers, assemblies, etc. only the removable cable and sound qualities of the different wood cups will be the difference.

Moneymillz24They're very similar, but also a fair enough different too. Both use Foster's same driver design that were the same or reminiscent of the Denon D2000/5000 series. Fostex TH-X00 has Mahogany, Purpleheart, and Ebony wood cup varieties, when available. E-MU has Teak, Rosewood, and Ebony wood cup varieties. E-MUs were $449 on Massdrop, and usually do not have free shipping in the US. The removable cable version was $499 and +$25 for Ebony cups, no free shipping. Fostex TH-X00 is $399 for Mahogany, and +$50 for Purpleheart or Ebony, I believe, and free shipping. TH-X00 do not have a removable cable option yet, that I am aware of. The TH-X00's are said to be slightly more boomy, but with less bass extension. Overall, I've heard that the E-MU Teak is slightly more natural sounding. Also, people have complained about the TH-X00's build quality, cups being misaligned, cups having bubble-wrap markings on them from improper shipping, and some people suspect that they were cheaply assembled with Foster's permission by Massdrop in China. E-MUs however, are a Creative brand, so I'd be more comfortable with them backing the quality of their work than Fostex/Massdrop, but that's just my opinion. Despite the differences I've listed, they are very similar unless you are an absolute perfectionist or stickler for a certain sound signature, then there are subtle differences you'll want to research for your preferred sound.

Zephyrus(Due diligence : I am on the ship of EMU teak removable cable because of the removable cable design, with a pair of additional Rose wood cups)
Yes, can't agree with you anymore, especially the removable cable, which is my main concern for long term usage and ability get some fun with cable for different sound or balance output with ease.
In case someone worry about the thx00 Mahogany sound signature is not to up their taste after they arrived, EMU did sold wood cups individually, which they explicitly stated it is compatible with all the fostex variance.

ZephyrusThank You for the detailed response. I'm currently part of the EMU drop and the HD6XX drop. Truely can't wait for these to come in.
