Wow I'm shocked this is on here. I thought they would NEVER fold and allow the 599 on any other 3rd party website.
Well a little too late because I already purchased the XT-599 almost over a year ago. This is an excellent Karambit and would highly recommend it.

LaserGuidedSockWhat do you use this knife for? Solely carried for self-defense or does this have other practical applications?
Debating buying one as a non-firearm defensive weapon. Alternatively thinking about the Spyderco Matriarch or Civilian, which do not in my opinion serve any other practical purposes.

XymnslotActually funny thing is I also have a Matriarch 2 with an aftermarket signet ring and deep carry pocket clip. The Fox 599XT Is very good, compact, very dense all in a lovely form factor. When you 1st get it the G10 is extremely rough and will destroy jeans with regular use. The Emmerson wave feature on the 599 is actually quite sharp and hurts to deploy by hand. I only mention that because the only other way to deploy the 599 is with the finger hole (like you would with a Spyderco) and in all honesty, I'm not sure if it's just my 599XT but it is VERY difficult to open via the thumb hole since the retention spring is so firm.
I actually just disassembled my 599XT yesterday before I took these pics to oil it down and check for wear. Turns out the 599XT has an IKBS bearing system but only on 1 side. The other side is phosphorus copper washer which is what a lot of older Spydercos use but that maybe lends itself to difficulty opening. Also while disassembly I noticed the 599XT has the most complex spring to reassemble because they are cut out of each side of the liner and are bridged together by a steel pin. So it's just difficult to have both springs on the left and right side of the liners at the same level so you can thread the pin between them.
That's about as much details as I can fit off the top of my head. If you have any question about the Matriarch 2 feel free to ask. If you are strictly looking for any other self defense knife I would suggest you take a look at the Spyderco P'Kal, Introvert and Yojimbo 2 all of which I also own. I only own all these self defense blades because I own a somewhat nice Italian motorcycle and have been attempted to be jumped for it multiple times I wanted something I can pull out even while wearing super thick leather gloves.

LaserGuidedSockThank you! This extremely helpful info, especially the pictures for comparison. The Matriarch 2 looks really big which means the Civilian would be bordering on the absurd...super cool looking, but out of the question for me to actually carry around. I think the Fox might be the Goldilocks of this bunch!

LaserGuidedSockGood lord that Matriarch 2 is sexy with the ring. I might have to do that.

LaserGuidedSockThey are selling the older liner lock version on 3rd party sites now. The XT that you have is still exclusive.
