Fox Umbrellas, an English heritage brand, has been producing brollies and walking sticks since 1868. Among the first manufacturers using steel-tube ribs to support its canopies, Fox has earned a global following for its hand-assembled umbrellas. From the royal family to John F. Kennedy, dignitaries around the world have carried a Fox.
As its name implies, this automatic umbrella can be deployed at the push of a button, unveiling a polyester canopy that measures 44 inches in diameter. It features a handle made of malacca, the stem of a palm tree that grows in Sumatra and is named after the British settlement in that area. From handle to ferrule, the umbrella measures more than 3 feet long, with a 26-inch steel tube frame at its core. Beneath the canopy, 10 fiberglass ribs give the umbrella strength.
