Kiwi_SuzanneHi Kiwi_Suzanne,
They are not. We ran the Westalee brand back in 2016 but they are not interested in working with the Massdrop Quilting community anymore. I have tried other Ruler foot drops but the community is very loyal to the Westalee brand. What is it about Westalee that everyone only wants that brand? I'm perplexed and any insight would be great.
SandyLucasIt's not so much that I'm loyal to that brand, it was more that I noticed the stable tape was Westalee branded but the ruler feet were plastic, not metal like the Westalee ones. To be honest I'd prefer a metal foot as it's likely to be more durable. Added to that since I'm in NZ the exchange rate and postage has a huge influence on my purchasing decisions. Since Westalee are Australia based those issues aren't usually such a factor when dealing with Australian suppliers.
SandyLucasI think Westalee has become a well known high quality brand name when it comes to ruler feet and rulers. Many local quilt shops have Westalee ruler workshops. I have several Westalee items and have been satisfied with every purchase. I recommend Westalee to anyone who asks. Personally I would not be interested in purchasing a plastic ruler foot. It seems like it could break easily. I already own the book and love it.
flora516Hi flora516,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. It seems like many people feel the same way. I have used other high density plastic feet (not ruler feet though) that haven't broken so I didn't take that into account. Westalee is a very good brand. It's unfortunate that the US distributor is not interested in working with the Massdrop community and I wish I had a different answer.
SandyLucasYou might want to check out Dusty Farrell at Country Stitchin. I have the Westalee 1/2 inch foot and the Farrell 1/4 inch foot. It is metal and they have amazing templates that can be used with any 1/2 inch ruler foot. The mini templates require the 1/4 inch foot.
