Though it's been asked before, I'm going to ask again at the top because I've seen no response from Massdrop:
Is this item covered by a US warranty or is it a gray market (international warranty) item?
I want to pull the trigger on this but want that information first from Massdrop.
photoman12001I would like for Massdrop to directly respond to this also.
In the past comments there is an answer by Sja52528 saying they recieved a response from Massdrop. I don't know how true it is. I would rather hear it direct from Massdrop to be sure. It seems as though the warranty is fulfilled by Massdrop and not by Fuji?
Here is the comment:
"Thanks for reaching out with this great question! We'd be happy to fulfill whatever warranty Fujifilm offers for their USA retailers."
craizenYeah, we definitely should be provided this information upfront. It's important. Actually, the lack of a response to multiple queries over long periods of time probably tells us what we need to know.
Thanks. I think I am going to take this drop. I will likely try the cheaper knockoff for the 15 dollar price point if I decide I need it. I am new to anything above point and shoot so this is exciting!
As counter-intuitive as it may seem to people already in the game, I am sort of sad it doesn't come with a kit lens bundled. I feel like I should start with the basics, right? Is the offered Fuji XF 27MM F2.8 Lens Black something that would be a good all around starter lens or it it just a nice ultralight single serving prime lens? It does look nice. though I assume it is not the WR version.
SLUnatic85i guess that depends on whether you're used to a zoom lens, and if not, whether you have a preferred focal length you like to shoot at. i advocate for prime, always, for a lot of reasons, but to each their own. i've used exclusively the 35mm (50ish mm equivalent) for a couple years and really haven't missed shooting at other focal lengths. the lens they're offering is a fine lens, if it's what you want. it isn't WR but neither is my 35mm and i've never worried about it in light rain.
Is there any way to add the Nikon lens mount to this camera order ? I would love to have this camera body but I'm not about to purchase all new lenses especially since different bayonete mounts are available for this camera with a factory order.
TdriccaIf you are interested in adapting different lenses, you would be better off with a Sony mirrorless. Unlike Fuji, Sony has auto focus support for numerous adapted lenses through third party adapters from Canon, Nikon, and Minolta to even partial support for m-mount (which doesn't even have native autofocus support!).
From my understanding everything but Nikon screw auto focus lenses are supported with the proper adapter.
Massdrop: Just FYI. again in the specs you have listed:
(Add On) FUJINON LENS XF18-55mmF2.8-4 R LM OIS
If this is not part of the deal, I would suggest removing it from the description. As last time that's why some people jumped on the drop then cancelled, since the XF 18-55mm was not part of the drop. Just a friendly notice!
** NOTE: This drop is for the camera body only.**
My apologies to those who joined this drop and added theFUJINON XF18-55mmF2.8-4 R LM OISlens as this was not supposed to be an option and was accidently made available at checkout.
The copy noted that "This drop is for the camera body only" but there was mention of the lens in the Power Supply section "(Add On) FUJINON LENS XF18-55mmF2.8-4 R LM OIS" and I can see where there might have been confusion.
Anyone who joined the drop and only wanted the Fujifilm X-T1 Mirrorless Camera with the Fujinon XF18-55mmF2.8-4 lens will be given the option to cancel their order or receive a partial refund for the cost of the add on lens.
JaysunThanks for the information JaySun! That's a tough decision to make... any plans on XF lenses drops soon? A camera body without a lens is not of much use to me, since I'm getting started on the Fuji system :)
Until when do we have to cancel the order?
VJQR13Ok, think I'd like to cancel my order. But I see no option in the transactions panel for it. I've contacted support yesterday but still waiting to hear back from the Massdrop team.
For now, I'll join the X-T2 drop!
Thank you though :)
Ended up joining the drop last minute after a couple of conversations by e-mail with Massdrop support. They will provide the 1-year limited warranty (I believe same as Fujifilm USA provides) through Massdrop support.
The drop had the option of adding the XF 18-55mm kit lens (which I did) for an extra $200... quite a steal! This lens goes on the market for around $500+ used or $699 new.
Thanks Massdrop! Hopefully now we can get a drop going for an X-Pro2 and some nice lenses ;)
VJQR13This is good info. Thanks! I joined the drop somewhat on faith that Massdrop would do the right thing. Plus, I've had so little warranty requirements with my cameras over the years it seemed like a reasonable risk for the savings. Cheers!
+1 on lenses!
Question for Massdrop: it states this is body only, but in the Power Supply description it mentions the specs for the 18-55mm kit lens. So just wondering, does the $729.99 include the 18-55mm kit lens or not?
And another one... is this US camera or gray market?
Thanks!
