This is an amazing lens, I own it and I think every person that owns Fuji-X system should have one. However... It is frequently sold for $699 at stores like B&H and Adorama. Of course the wait could be over by tomorrow or a couple of months from now...

stephen.scharfI have seen this lens sold at $699 many times. I bought it for $699 at B&H about 1~2 years ago. And I'm not talking about the gray market item. However it's probably much harder to find those deals now that Fujifilm cameras and lenses are getting much more attention and many products have really high demands... Similarly, the amazing compact 23mm f/2, 35mm f/2 and 50mm f/2 can sometimes be found at $299. You can also try GreenToe to see if any seller would negotiate with you.
