Looking for early backers! We'll CERTAINLY be back on Massdrop with the new product after the campaign.

Hi @ULabs. Thanks for your reply. Good to know it's the latest version.
You say "Mac...compatibility will also be available within the next few weeks." I only have a Mac. If I join this drop, will it be delivered with enough "Mac compatibility" that I can use my Mac to upgrade it to get full compatibility, when available?
Also, does it connect to phones, specifically Android phones?

I can't wait for Linux and Mac OS compatibility. I used to use this at my old job and really miss it at my new one. I'll contact the company directly on this as we have 250+ agents who will probably want one if it supports Linux and Mac Sierra. Can't wait to see an update. Cheers.

Does anyone know what the functioning distance of this thing is? For example, let's say I was out of the office (like a mile away), could this lock my computer from that far away? Would really appreciate it if someone who knew could answer (:

araskaHi! The GateKeeper has the same Bluetooth range as most media devices. It can lock your computer anywhere within around 50-60 feet. If you are a mile away, the GateKeeper will certainly have locked by the time you were several feet away :)

araskaThe website says you can specify the lock distance from 3 feet to 30. It's just bluetooth so, no, not a mile away. About the same distance as your wireless mouse lol. What sort of security would it be if I had to be a mile away from my computer before it locked?

I ordered several of these for out IT department...they aren't very reliable and seem to only work when they want to.

I'm tempted to get a few more, but I'm waiting for all the updates to become available. Web site does not show any new update that was supposedly available early August, and I'd really like to see that rechargeable option, since right now I've switched to ML2032 batteries to eliminate battery waste. Still in the testing phase, but so far so good. And where is the Android app?

As much as I appreciate the Halberd, I wish it was smaller, or had a rechargeable battery. I'm just using the Trident app for my needs, and so far it acts no different from the original, and the bonus is that I don't have to worry about having spare batteries or needing that USB dongle.
It does make me wonder if they plan on either selling the app, or just placing it out in the open. Given how the Kickstarter had a $5 tier for early access to the app, I'm thinking they might place it up for something like $9.99 once they move it out of beta. At this point, there are at least 50 devices it's been installed on in the Google Play Store, and there are a total of 437 backers, with only two comments regarding the quality of the app...

I got this during the last drop, and overall it works well. As with all bluetooth devices, it really doesn't like interference (other bluetooth radios, and pretty much *anything* USB 3) so you can't use a close range for the trigger if you don't enjoy the computer constantly locking/unlocking. Even with a decent range the signal can drop, so I opted to attach my key to a mini carabiner - that allows me to put it on the table while I'm not planning to go anywhere soon. I forgot it the first couple of times, but now it's become second nature to grab it when I head out.
Don't think of it as a security device. It's a convenience device, and with that in mind it works. I even ordered two extra USB dongles so I can link the key to other computers.

They didn't really address the issue of when you lose it. Just how to find it within 30 feet.

Nekroev@Nekroev If the key is completely lost it can easily be deleted from the computer/network as an access device. No information is ever stored on the keys themselves. Therefore even it's recovered it cannot be used to access the previous computer or determine any information about the previous user.

There are *2* things this thing needs to do - lock and unlock my computer. It does 1: it locks.
Unlock? Not at all. Buggy, terrible. I spent several hours with their helpful but useless support trying to get it to work. I am in IT. I know technology and Bluetooth. This thing stinks.
Do NOT BUY.
