Support for Alternative Layouts
This is a summary of how alternative layouts have been supported by kits such as Colevrak and Homing. It is not a discussion of alt layout performance and development, but if that interests you I highly recommend starting with Pascal Getreuer’s A guide to alt keyboard layouts (why, how, which one?). Either way (GeekHack/MassDrop) - I would have liked to have bought Gateron Yellows.
I'm not saying MD is perfect - but this join the "hate on MD" bandwagon is crazy. They do have some deals but everyone acts like they are pointing a gun at their head to join.
As far as I know MD isn't in the business of losing money on every deal. You can try imsto/qtan if they will give you the time of day (ie: Never!) to buy Taobao stuff.
It's not a secret that MassDrop can't compete with other sellers all the time. I've seen several group buys on MassDrop where the product is very similarly priced on Amazon and you can get it shipped to you a lot earlier.
This is just a case where the GH community is just blowing this out of proportion in my opinion. I think it's great that people have an option to get it cheaper, but for those who want to stick with MassDrop this is an option.
