arronsandersIf you join the drop and select Gateron Greens as your switch type, you'll get 120 Gateron Green switches in the mail a couple months down the line. So buying from this drop should be a safe bet. :)
As for the mount type, that's one of the questions answered in the FAQ on the K-Type discussion page:
Do I need PLATE mount Cherry MX style switches or PCB mount style switches? The K-Type is only compatible with plate mount Cherry MX style switches.

arronsandersWhoops, good on you for asking and sorry for speaking too soon. The SMD-LED compatible Gaterons are indeed different. Here's a reddit thread that addresses this very thing:

I'm gonna bow out now before I say anything else inaccurate :)

arronsandersThe switches in this drop, like any MX-compatible switches, will fit in and function with the K-Type. However, because of the opaque black base, these switches won't project as much light upward. If you're looking for max illumination, then you're better off with a different switch.

arronsandersIf you have trouble getting the SMD-compatible switches at a price you like, you could easily modify these to work. A Dremel would do it in no time, or even a utility knife and some needle files. It would be easy, but tedious.
