Got the 3L on the last drop. Soon as I opened the plastic casing I was greeted with eau d'new-garden-hose. Before first use I filled with a mixture of water and white vinegar and let it sit for an hour, then rinsed and filled with a mixture of water and baking soda. Let it sit for 24 hours like that (no leaks was good). Dumped the baking soda mix, rinsed well a few times, put some fresh water in and it was like drinking from a new garden hose. Bad enough that it actually irritated my throat. Glad it's BPA free - wondering what other chemical is being leeched into the water.
I reached out to GeigerRig customer service - will follow-up here after I hear back from them.

a-non-y-mousBelated update: Contacted Geigerrig customer service and got directed to their warranty form. The warranty form is a little more extensive than other manufacturers, but all in all it was an easy process and customer service was quick and helpful.
The replacement bladder had zero garden hose smell. I'm guessing there must have been some issue with the manufacturing plant where they either used the wrong material, didn't apply the correct coating, or something like that. It was definitely a lemon.
The new one works a treat, and the air pump is a surprisingly useful feature. Pleasantly surprised to find the connection ports are compatible with my old Source accessories (like the Helix bite valve, Universal Tube Adapter, etc.). The Geigerrig engine is a great hydration bladder on its own; combined with with the Source accessories, it's close to perfect for me.

Probably BPS, or one of the other almost identical BPx chemicals that allows the manufacturer to label it "BPA Free".

a-non-y-mousUPDATE: The replacement from Geigerrig worked great for a while. A few months in, apparently the garden hose smell/taste started to get stronger and got to the point where the water was irritating my throat. Whatever coating they're using on the inside seems to not be very durable, and the main material seems to be downright toxic. Leaving a review to summarize everything I've experienced here, but as it stands, there's no way I'd recommend this product.
