I bought this on the last drop. I'm not disappointed in the purchase but I'm also not going to say it's the greatest either, probably an 7.5/10. While installing it I actaully broke part of the mount that slides into the main unit but even with it broken it still slides on and holds perfectly fine to no complaint or wobble. The biggest gripe I have with this unit is that the back camera plugs into the top of the unit and the power plugs into the bottom so no matter how you mount it you will have some cable hanging down. I have mine mounted almost fully behind my center mirror with the cables tucked into the head liner and back. This set up will do everything you need a dash cam to do plus having the second camera but only one recorder is really nice. The supplied cables are good and long and should be able to stretch the length of just about any vehicle. If you can get this to a lower price i don't think you'll regret the purchase however as a side note you may also want to pick up a card reader if your computer doesn't have one. The main unit transfers files really slowly. I'm currently using a 32gb card which lasts me about a week with at least 16 hours of driving a week.

Anyone who bought this from the previous drop here to speak on quality? The Amazon link shows a lot of reviews for the Genius DVR-FHD590. Is the main claim for this model (DVR-HD500D) the fact that it has both a front and back cam?

Great news group! The vendor has let us know that the group's order was picked up and is on its way to our warehouse now. Based on the tracking provided these are scheduled to come in 9/25. Our warehouse team has been forwarded tracking info and will be standing by, ready to get these packed up and turned around as soon as they come in.
Sometimes shipments get delayed en route, not to worry as we will keep the group posted throughout the process and notify you all if anything causes delay.
Thanks for your patience and expect an update from us on 9/28 or sooner if something comes up.

Has anyone found out if the camera is still filming if you turn off the screen or if the Audio recording is on at all times? The manual that comes with it is terrible, but I do like the other features it has. I've looked everywhere and can not find descriptions of what the specific menu buttons do or if it loops and writes over the SD card when it is full.

IlluminatiIt will still record both cameras if you turn off the screen. There's a little blue light next to the screen which will stay lit to let you know it's recording. Plus the 4 LED's on the front will tend to light up your dash a bit but not so bad as to be distracting or really noticeable.

Thanks again for joining this drop! With your help we were able to make it successful for the community. We've just submitted the group's order with the vendor for the Genius DVR-HD500D Dual Channel Dash Camera and they are working hard to prepare it for shipment.
As soon as the group's order is ready at the vendor's location, they will send the bulk shipment to our warehouse in New Jersey where our warehouse team will break it up into individual orders and ship them directly to you! The current estimated ship date from our warehouse is 9/25.
Rest assured that we we will provide you all with updated information regarding the status of your order throughout the process. You can expect an update from us by the end of the day Pacific Time on 9/21.

Does this thing turn on and off automatically (either with motion or with 12V current)? I don't want to have to remember to turn it on and off myself.

NorskeIt appears that if you have Motion Detection enabled then you would manually have to turn off the device. I'm planning on wiring this into a 12v that's only active when the vehicle is on or running, so it'll lose power and turn off either way in my case.

What would we be looking at in terms of battery life with these at 400/470mAh?
@douchecanoe @zero_divide_1Small mistake in copy there. It has been updated. The front camera is the HD camera. The rear camera is VGA.
