The white dialed non-GMT model comes to $449 - Not a bad price for a 2892 based watch with a custom rotor and sapphire both front and rear. Things to note - it doesn't seem like the hands are lumed on any of the versions, and there's no mention of a screw down crown, which is convenient for winding and setting the time/date, but less secure when it comes to moisture, especially given the lack of crown guards (crown could more easily snag on clothing). 42 x 12 is a bit larger than typical for this size of watch, but Longines makes a 43mm Conquest (similar style), so not unusually big - just might look a bit chunkier on a <7" wrist.

AliasfoxMostly agree with you there. I don't really think a watch in this style, at least for me, requires a screw-down crown, but fully respect one who does. For me the show-stopper is the date window. I don't mind date windows on divers, but on something in this style it's distracting. So it's not just Georg Jensen, but most watchmakers these days... And the last thing for me - again, while I don't mind a 42mm diameter, I think on this style of watch, it's way too big. I think smaller watches are making their way back, and I look at anything that isn't a diver or chrono and that is over 40mm as out of style, and I won't buy them.

DanTreviewRegarding crowns, I thought the same way, until my Hamilton Khaki fogged up in a rainstorm, possibly due to the crown having been tugged at - the watch was three years old at the time, so I'd be really disappointed if the seals had already failed. I appreciate screwed crowns, or at least crown guards, for that reason. And as someone with a 6.75" wrist, I can't really wear anything over 40-41mm. I have one 42mm pilot which is reserved for summer/short sleeve use, but everything else is smaller. That said, 42mm isn't so big that a taller person with bigger forearms and wrists couldn't wear it and have it look in-proportion. As for date window... you'd be very hard pressed to find watches without them. I have two (a Halios and a Sinn), but they're relatively rare, especially in the mid-price Swiss/German collections.

AliasfoxTrust me - the date window is the biggest "complication concession" I have to make. I've been gunning for a few vintage hand-wound Seiko Lord Marvel lately (date window gone, dial symmetry aesthetic achieved...), but they nearly always have stains on the dial or non-existent service records, so I wind up wearing something with a date window. If my SARBs didn't have date windows I would consider them "perfect." My wrists are the same as yours. It isn't so much the dial diameter that frustrates me - it's the lug-to-lug with that typically goes with it. For example, I have the Seiko SNE435 quartz PADI solar diver, and I love it (the blue/red is gorgeous), and it has a 44mm diameter dial, but because the lug-to-lug length is reasonable, the case looks like it was poured onto my wrist, and fits like a glove. Contrast this with my Bulova Lunar Pilot, and the lug-to-lug length on a dial of nearly the same diameter leaves these huge gaps between my wrists and the case, and it looks goofy. So while we speak about diameter, I usually go looking for the l2l length to determine if it's TRULY a good fit. Unfortunately this one doesn't work for me. Otherwise it's a pretty good watch.
AliasfoxFor some reason, “dress watches” vs tool (etc.) watches, generally don’t have lume. I’m told it’s a design ethos such that if you’re at the opera or ballet, your wrist won’t be glowing.

FearlessleaderIt's one thing about my SARB033 I do not like - lume. I'd rather have extra polished surfaces on the indices....

FearlessleaderBut when I'm attending an opera or ballet, I WANT to be able to see what time it is!
gcdudeHey, I didn't say that was MY opinion... Just why no lume was explained to me.

FearlessleaderYou don't wear a tac baby-G at the ballet in case of a terrorist hit?

The terrorist don’t want to be any closer to the ballet than I do so you probably won’t need your tacticool G-Shock. lol
