Interesting design, but it's going to take quite a few years of improved quality control before I drop $100 on anything marked "Gerber".

NotsurewhyibotherI had one in stainless steel. Lasted about 3 months before rust spots started appearing everywhere. The tabs on the little sheet metal holder for the extra bit broke on mine and just flops around. I need to be careful closing the tool or the floppy bit holder will jam it and bend even more. Just get a Leatherman Surge with bit kit and extender. I've actually stood and bounced on the handles trying to cut through a hardened metal jigsaw blade. No damage to the Leatherman, and I'm pretty large. I'm sure the Gerber would be snapped if not bent into a pretzel.

PointyI agree, Leatherman all the way. Gerber used to make nice knives in the '90s (I have a decent hunting knife from that era, when they were made in USA) but the last few Gerber multi-tools I've owned have felt and performed like dollar store toys compared to my Leatherman tools. I've you're going to spend that much money, go for the Leatherman Wave. Basically the same tool set as the Surge, just a smaller package.

Benslen15I carry the Surge for the replaceable files and saws and the outside-opening larger scissors. The tradeoff is the extra weight and size. The wave is perfect if you don't use the file or saw much.
