evanlaYes, because "Nominal impedance: 35 ohms" should be fine with any mass produced portable consumer device. Android, iPhone, etc. start to be under-powered for phones with impedance of about 64 ohms or more,

Dr_Rodney_McKayDon't forget it's to do with sensitivity and not just impedance....

OstewartYes, and my experience is admittedly limited, but for impedance as low as 35 ohms I think any sensitivity that actual headphones might have will be within a range that's OK for pretty much any cell phone. True? Thanks.

Dr_Rodney_McKayNot quite true. Not 35 Ohms, but 50 Ohms you have the Fostex T50rp, and the Hifiman HE-500 / HE-6, both of which will not work well out of a phone.
Also there were some limited edition Kinera Earbuds which I have, that are around 32 Ohms, but require quite a bit of power.
General rule of thumb is below 100 Ohms, and over 100dB @1mW you should be fine with a phone.

OstewartThanks, Oste and Dr R.
In your opinion, can you suggest a good setup for me? I listen mostly with my phone or computer. Can I use an amp/headphone combo with a phone or is that dumb? I can probably spend $400 or so on headphones and amp
thanks for your opinions :)

evanlaI'm not that clued up on portable amps at the moment, but the Oppo HA-2SE is great.
If your phone supports USB OTG, then the iFi Audio Nano iDSD is a killer unit, but it only supports USB input.

evanlaThe GMP 8.35d are excellent as a go to portable headphone. Otherwise the Meze 99 Classic are worth looking in to.

OstewartThe Meze surely does deserve high praise, however they are around 2x more expensive than these cans lol.

ArcyThese are more neutral and detailed than the Meze, but the Meze are good too.
