Howdy,
Great news everyone! Another 10 units of the black version has just been added to the drop. Snag them before they are gone.
Cheers.
Leaked email from Nvidia board to manufacturer states that the new 1180 will be released at the end of August. There's an abundance of cards that Nvidia needs to dump off. Stores as well as Nvidia have a massive amount in stock right now. The prices should be drastically dropping over the next month. Paying this price as a "deal" is a joke. Not sure what they are going to do about the hundreds of thousands of 10 series cards that are laying around, but if they don't off load them somehow their balance sheets are going to look like shit. Here's one of the dozens of articles about the email leak: https://hothardware.com/news/email-leak-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1180-august-gtx-1170-september
SuperMonkey
Rumored prices for the 1180 are at $750, if Nvidia really wanted to sell off excess stock, they'd be slashing the 10 series, not selling the new series at a higher price. Besides, we all know what's going happen day one. Miners will buy up the entire stock and then blame Nvidia for not manufacturing enough.
Can you please drop a Ti in a few weeks? I WILL / WOULD purchase these if they were around in a week or two time.
People about the 11 series, have you done research? Those cards are not going to be a big improvement over the Ti.
Anyone with a Ti (who doesn't HAVE to have the latest and greatest the second it comes out) shouldn't purchase them. Support with games will not be rampant for a good amount of time, and won't be that big of an improvement. There's not too many games that take advantage of the RAM our current cards have, let alone the supe'd up GDDR6 or whatever that will ship with them.
Clock speed has been all but confirmed... and its not that much higher. About the same amount a good overclock would give according to people I trust online who don't exercise the majority of their knowledge in comment sections.
P.S. I hate that the black are gone.

Looks like you haven't done much research yourself. The fact is once the new gen is announced (which is happening pretty soon, in a month or so), the prices on the 10 series will be dropping significantly as all retailers will be clearancing the old stock out. MD doesn't bother to take that into account because by the time they ship, the price drops on 1080 tis will be everywhere, in fact, the prices are dropping already, there were quite a few sales on 1080ti already this month, at lower prices than MD offers here.
Regardless, can we give Massdrop some much needed praise for giving us cards at this price point, regardless of where you think the market is right now?
Massdrop, thank you.

this card is gonna be worth shit in a few weeks when 11 series comes out, chill.
WILLxLOVE
MD is not giving you the cards now, at best you'll get them in a few weeks time and by then, 1080 tis will be going for much less everywhere - in fact, you already can get 1080 ti cheaper on newegg, evga and so on if you track the sales.
The concern I would have is the fact that the maker of this card has had multiple issues with their 1080ti cards.
This drop is priced too high. By the time this ships, Nvidia will have announced 11 series which means clearance pricing on all 10 series GPUs

yea, I'd buy everything from overseas if I wanted it next year
the last time was just earlier this month, now i've been seeing 1080tis fall within 600-650 range more often. you should keep a lookout on /r/buildapcsales
So sad. Just join mass drop site. Hope it's active again soon.

Good luck I got the email yesterday!!!

Massdrop please add a limit of 2 gpus per household.
For everyone that is having trouble finding a GPU: Go on EVGA, amazon, newegg, ECT.. And sign up for notifications when the card you want is in stock. I've bought 4 cards this week, for regular prices.

Wow I got the email today and the drop has already expired. Whee!
Angelworks
Yeah, same here... WTF?

Limited quantities available. and Miners
Everyone is complaining about the miners and it’s kind of funny, are they buying a lot of gpus yes, but pc gaming is also at an all time high and finding one of these under 1000 is basically impossibl, I would’ve loved to of gotten my hands on one but I’m not gonna get mad at miners, if they can only buy two then they didn’t reay get much more hashrate

I'm not talking about in this drop, I'm talking about in general. Miners walk into B&M stores or go to retailers like n***** and buy up entire stock on cards. How can the apologists not see that as anything BUT a problem? Miners don't give a damn, they're making money, screw everyone else. What needs to happen, when either the bubble bursts or someone comes up with ASIC's to work on the current stuff that isn't supported by them at present and the market floods with used mining cards, is that we not buy them. See someone selling 30 GPU's on a site? Blacklist that seller and don't support them. Who wants cards that have been run into the ground anyway?
Bl901
They're not that hard to get. You need to use browser alerts. I bought the EVGA ftw3 1080ti this week for $800 including shipping. And I've also bought 3 1060s thisweek for MSRP.
I just come on the drop to see the comments. I know by the time I get the email the drop is already done. I'm just waiting the day when coins is no longer worth mining and the miners dump their second hand hardware on the market. These retailers will be sticking their fingers up their assess to the knuckle trying to get us to buy their new stocks...

Most coins can't be mined with Asic.
gamersextremegear
LOL "to the knuckle".
Crazy, checked email 2 times consecutively in a 30 min time frame and still missed it :(. Hope I eventually get a chance to take a crack at a GPU.
GPU manufacturers need to up their game to meet the rising demand before somebody else does.

They're not going to spend billions of dollars on new factories, for a market that could disappear at any time.
Dr.Smoke
Yeah where would they get all those billions huh? Yes, GPU mining will surely disappear any day now.
Weak sauce, Massdrop, truly weak sauce. Surely there was 1 or 2 item purchase restriction on these, right? Because I can't imagine you not heeding Nvidia's advice about putting gamers squarely before the miners. Right??
Edit: Just heard that there WAS a purchase limit of 2 on this drop. If that IS true, then I can't fault Massdrop at all. Purchase limits seem like just about all a site like MD can do to combat resellers and miners. While I'm still extremely disappointed, I retract my snarky comments. lol

For a 1080 Ti right now, it should have been a limit of one :P
So you're revolting against the bitminers by.... selling them your hardware? Now that's taking a stand.
What did this end up going for? New to MassDrop and didn't get here in time.

OMG.. I want one soooooo bad. Everywhere I look they are $1000+ Heck, I'd love to put two of them into SLI (I just got VIVE VR ) but I don't want to be greedy.
Miners go to hell May all governments in the world ban the use of cryptocurrency
Load 7 more comments
Of course you can "ban"... just like China did, cracking down on mining facilities and banning public tradings. But can they stop it? of course not, you can still mine it, trade it, in the underground, just like all sorts of hard drugs. And also just like all sorts of hard drugs, China banned cryptocurrency because of the raise of criminal activities related to it. Then, come think of it, how about if the "ban" becomes "worldwide", what use is left for cryptocurrecy? in that scenario of course you can still claim its "legitimacy", but for what? what for? unless those supporters form a group of secret society, produces and consumes their own products out of somewhere/in somewhere not controlled by any government so they don't need to pay tax or buying anything from the real world. Anyways, Japan is on full on support for cryptocurrency at the moment, as long as there are countries allow it, the cryptocurrency will make sense. But with the biggest market China, shutting it down, "banning" it, I really think Japan might change its stance in following years...
koblongata2
China didn't actually crack down on anything. You can still trade Crypto to any other Fiat, and then into the currency of your choice there is no way to stop that, because its global.
If it's not labeled, it's free right?

If I had a nickel for every time.....
@massdrop I don't want to see email advertisements about inactive drops! Selling out within minutes should be avoided to give others an opportunity to take advantage of the drop. I didn't even get to see the listing price

tie-die
Amen! I see the notification on my phone, click it and am told "YOU SUCK". lol
I totally agree, but the fact is that miners have wiped out the supply and none of the GPU manufacturers can keep up with demand. This isn't a problem for just Massdrop. I did see below, though, that Massdrop is now limiting each person to 2 units, so that probably helps. If you want my advice, if you are desperate to get one of these from Massdrop, hang out on the site early in the morning for the drop to post. If you wait for the email it will be too late.
