I highly, highly recommend not buying any Gigabyte laptops.
I went from having a five year old Sager to a broken Gigabyte laptop (P55W-B1) that I have sent in continually for repairs for the last three years. I have had numerous issues with them honoring the warranty. If there is a faulty video card, they will do everything in their power not to replace, even telling me "There's nothing wrong with this laptop," after holding onto it for a month.
When I sent it in, a single smoke grenade in CS:GO could cause the game to crash to a stuttering halt. The laptop also has insane heating issues owing to poor design. The keyboard feels like the hot surface of a phone after you've played a app game too long. My Sager, while older and broken in the expected ways an outdated laptop should be broken, doesn't heat up as much as that damned Gigabyte.
In fact, my Gigabyte laptop is back at the Gigabyte authorized repair center right now, I am using my now 8 year old Sager as a backup. Out of the total 2-year global warranty my Gigabyte laptop has had, it's been in the repair shop for 5 months time. Save yourself a headache, please. Buy the MSI deal instead.
Another good deal but for America only.
Why cant this be shipped internationally?
can I get a pc please.

Question: Does the SSD that comes with this use SATA or PCIe? The description seems to indicate... both, so it's tough to tell. Another question: Does this support NVIDIA G-Sync? I'm also assuming that this does not support Thunderbolt 3.
To all who are hating me I never would use a 1070 for gaming infact I am so in to the 4K experience I will get a cheap single 1060/70 and get the 180Ti or get the Titan XP but next year as if all goes to plan the old Titan X shortly after GTX 1080 launch was reduced by PC shops for GTX 1080 price roughly here in the uk but all I mean is that having an overkill GPU with a ahitty screen is pointless just use a cheaper GPU and save on cost and battery life as a cheaper GPU uses less power so you get better battery life in a cheaper laptop
i have a gigabyte p34 that i am very happy with.
@SaltyMac How warm does your Asus gl502 GPU get under load? This one seems to reach 80c....just wondering if that was a normal temp.

Thanks! I still can't make up my damn mind! Are you the same saltymac on YouTube with gl502 videos? I would assume so....saw you on there while doing research lol.
twibmassa
yea thats me lmao, i love the hell out of this thing, would recommend it to anyone. as long as youre getting it mostly for gaming, if its more for work or something i would look elsewhere
Hello Everyone, We have extended this drop out a few days in hopes to hit the final drop point. Cheers.
@SaltyMac I was driving past a Best buy today and decided to stop...the only gaming laptops they had were 2 Asus models and one of them being the GL502. I have to say, that thing is way sexier in person than pictures suggest. The color scheme and solid aluminum? construction dont come across in pics I've seen. Really great looking laptop. I just don't understand why Asus decided to put a gtx1060 only in the 17" model the GL702. I'd be really interested in a 1070 GL702 if it existed.
twibmassa
dang they didnt throw a 1070 in the 17??? that seems like a wasted opportunity. and solid aluminum?? mines like mostly plastic lol. maybe they have different builds on the different gl502 stuff? but i wasnt aware of a solid aluminum one. but whatever laptop you get just make sure you love it. because whatever the cost you will be so much happier if you love it and use the heck out of it!
SaltyMac
Hmmm. It felt like solid metal material....I believe it was last year's gl502 because it had an old nvidia card in it. Yeah I don't know what I want....every one a look at has negatives....but maybe the g752vs....or msi dominator pro... But they are so bulky....and I don't like how you can't replace the internals of the msi laptops because it voids your warranty.
12 bit color? 👀
I have one of these laptops. There is a heat problem when running games. But with the money you save here, you can easily get a good external cooling Pad.
I'd prefer a 15" laptop. Can we have that here please
I'm still on the fence here...I love the form factor for a 17" but it seems like there may be a real heat concern...and there are a couple of $2000 options that have better cooling, better keys, and g-sync monitors...anyone have any real input on this model or similar gigabyte or aorus models...or the new MSI or Asus models? I live in the boondocks and don't have any pc stores within a couple hours of my home, or I'd go shopping...
This laptop is not worth it as the GPU is not hitting its potential I could easily get a desktop, monitor, peripherals and a desk/chair for 1080p 60 fps gaming and pay less

Except you'd be stuck at home while I'm gaming low key anywhere I want
Klumzyee
'low key'... This thing screams gamer.
Do a MSI GS43VR Drop please! And make it able to ship overseas!
MusicHaven
Watch out the MSI laptop temperate problem... there is some review talking on this...
please do a htc vive drop!
JonnyJ
I hope I can get HTC Vive too. Oculus is not good...
I just got this laptop on Newegg.....cost $1999...
Pro : • Play VR (virtual reality) game perfectly. • I never think I can get new Nvidia GTX 1070 on laptop and play VR game. • Temperate super cool when VR gaming • Colorful screen 17” • Super fast (Open Windows only take 10 seconds) • Keyboard is pretty bouncy and solid. Also comes with back-lights • Case material is good as aluminum
Con : • There’s no option on the color. If this laptop have the color as iPhone, I will choice the rose gold. lol • Didn’t come with mouse and pad • I would like to install bigger storage. For me, 1.25 TB is not enough. 2K17 is over 80GB... • There is a DVD in this laptop and I never use it. I’m going to remove it and put in a storage bay. • This is Windows 10, but I prefer Windows 7….
Total : I just got this awesome laptop from Newegg. Play the horror VR (virtual reality) game perfectly. If you are looking for VR laptop, this one is what you’re looking for. Overall a nice gaming laptop.

Hey, so is the HDD 1TB included along with 256 GB SSD on this one?
Vjdaniel
It's a 256gb m.2 SSD and a 1tb 2.5 7200rpm mechanical drive.
I'd love to jump on a reduced-price 1070 laptop, but it just seems overpowered for 1080p at 60 FPS. Looking at benchmarks I feel like the 1070 really shines with a 120 hz 1080p display or a 1440p 60 hz one. Still, this has some awesome specs for the price, so good job!
Want the 15 inch version of this laptop. Has the biggest longest battery run of all 1070 laptops at 15 format
usernameistakenistaken
I agree! Yeah the 17 inch is a bit to big for my liking. Also, I hear that the keyboard flex is significantly reduced on the 15.6 inch version of this laptop. If the 15 inch version is not avalible for drop, go for any of the Predator series laptops from Acer
Sager laptops. Go check them out instead of getting this.
Barradoor
While they pack a lot of impressive specks they're pretty expensive
Haha it does, but I imagine that then would cause people not to buy it. I'd also guess the hard drive included is a Seagate or HGST. It's nice to have ddr4 for longevity, but it isn't a must.
With a laptop like this you will/should be able to swap out the RAM, SSD, HDD, and possibly the CPU if it isn't soldered on.
This laptop gives you options. NVMe SSD and a hard drive are already given so if anything you could swap out the RAM for a 2400 MHz kit with CAS latency of 15 or less and you'd be set. This laptop should last you at least 3 years.
It's great to see high end laptops on here, but the description is bugging me a little. I wouldn't exactly call DDR4 RAM far superior to DDR3. Dram doesn't scale so there isn't a big difference between them. After certain speeds and latency there are diminishing returns.
Seeing a 256 GB NVMe SSD spec'd at 2,000 read is interesting as I don't know many at all that are rated as such. 256 GB 950 Pro is 2,200 and there's a plextor at 2,000 read.
For the specs it's a decent priced laptop.
Mastrshok
I'm a little bothered when they don't say brands for anything haha. and tbh the ram in my asus is not very good. just because ram is ddr4 doesn't mean it really helps at all! its just marketing really.
SaltyMac
Judging by the video, i believe the ram is gskill ripjaws about 4:20 in the youtube video tha'ts posted on the product description.
And honestly salty....the novelty of triple monitor gaming wears off pretty quick...I probably wouldn't do it again. 2 is perfect for multitasking purposes. Nvidia programs can be kind of finicky and it honestly doesn't add too much to the experience. Unless you are in to racing games and have a wheel, it's not really worth it IMO. Just spend your money on one big beautiful curved display. :)
twibmassa
haha I'm not one for curved displays but I can say that I am pretty content with 2 screens, one 4 k for gaming, and a nice 1080 for watching Netflix while gaming! I do love my friends triple screen setup but I see how it could wear off fairly quickly. it would take me forever to even use the third screen fully lmao
This is honestly awesome that this is on massdrop. Not something I'm in the market for but kudos for getting a high end laptop like this on the site!
I'm honestly confused by this massdrop, I have the same everything in my asus gl502vs and it was priced at 1700 normally? and I would have to guess my 256 Samsung nvme is faster than the gigabytes nvme. also mine is a 15" (I like 15 more than 17 now) but if you want another option that's actually cheaper check out the asus gl502vs
