Can't wait to pair this with my AK100 balanced.
I don't own this or the product its supposed to go with nor do I want one right no bot, I like the idea of connecting the buyers straight with the vendor/company.

Thank you for your comment. We enjoy talking with our customers and helping them make the best purchasing decision. If you are into audiophile sound, like many people here, you will surely enjoy the ability to get the best sound quality out of your personal music player. GloveAudio A1 offers that ability like no other amp does!
I wonder how this compares to a new AK120II, if paired with the older ak100.

Michael Mercer of Audio 360 actually prefers this combo, because the player (which is essentially a computer) is not required to handle audio. A dedicated outboard DAC is doing that instead. We have better isolation inside our A1 machined aluminum chassis, so we can push the audio specs farther -- we are not fighting the noisy computer located in the same chassis, like the player has to do.
I can't tell by the pictures, but is that a min-USB port? Can the A1 playback and recharge at the same time while also connected to a 5V/1A+ USB battery pack? A big OUTSTANDING if it does.

OUTSTANDING! I really like how the output impedance of the headphone out are under 1 ohm. for all balanced and SE. It negates getting any mods done to the AK100 from Mezzo and RWA. I see lots of value here. Some of those mods cost as much as the A1!

Cool. I'm glad you see the value here. From the feedback we've gotten so far, this is a perfect combo. If you have an AK100 or AK120, you likely care about sound quality and therefore you absolutely need to try the GloveAudio A1.
thank you.
Oh, just to be clear (on my part), the Glove attached to the AK through the optical out, yes? And this allows full resolution playback up to 24/192. Am I understanding correctly? Sorry to be dense. Just want to make sure.

Correct
Thanks for the reply. I'm happy to hear that, Please do talk to John and post back here.
Could you give me some more information about the Chip of DAC and OP amp.
Your literature says it plays files up to 24/192 but the review on Digital Audio Review states that anything above 24/96 is down sampled to 24/96 because of the use of the optical output on the AK. Is this true or will the Glove play files at 24/176 and 24/192?
digitalzed
It's not downaampled. Must be a mistake by John, I'll talk to him.. A1 will play up to 192kHz on the SPDIF input. AK120 will play 192kHz out the SPDIF output. So it works.
Love CEntrance products and have done quite a bit reading on this product here. If i wasn't set on an AK100II and Hifi M8 stack id be all over this! Would love to see another drop for the HiFi M8!

Thanks for the good words. We are working on making more stock. That's the only gating factor here. Everything is made in US.
Aloha Michael is CEntrance looking into building one for the A&K 240? Would be interested in a product that would improve the sound of the A&K 240. Mahalo and I'm really enjoying the Dacport unit, great for traveling.
uruma72
Thanks for the suggestion. AK240 is not bad on its own. We know of a lot of people who own the AK120 and this product is for them!
I do not understand the purpose of this, the entire point of an expensive DAP like A&K models is that the onboard DAC and amp circuitry is top-notch. If you're bypassing all of that, you might as well use a way cheaper DAP. It's basically a $500 extremely bulky battery pack that renders $800 of your $1000 DAP pointless. Even if it's slightly better, there is absolutely no way that it will make an audible improvement. If the A&K players are not completely transparent, at their ridiculous price point, you shouldn't buy one in the first place because they're clearly way overpriced. This is a $500 band-aid to a problem that, if it does exist, shouldn't. To each their own...

No way i'm as stupid as the 24fps game devs. I'm just practical
edit: wait at the meets i think vendors all ready bring their high end products like dac and amps ? so what the point you can just bring your good headhphones and just connect it to their products to try out.

Hey, look -- this is an excellent accessory for those who are not satisfied with the sound of the AK120. If you ARE already satisfied, or if you don't have an AK120, this product is not for you.
If you are curious as to what you might be missing, read the reviews from people in the industry whose opinions matter to a lot of folks.
First, we need a drop on either ak100 or ak120....
Since the AK100 and AK120 are different sizes, how is the Glove able to hold both models? I might want to pair up one of these with my old AK100.
SDBiotek
Great question! We offer two retaining brackets in the box. On is slightly longer -- it easily accommodates the shorter AK100. You can see the bracket in the picture - it holds the AK player from the "bottom". An Allen wrench is also included and snapping the bracket on takes seconds.

Thanks for the clarification. I have not seen any photos of two Gloves side by side (one on an AK100, the other on an AK120), so I had wondered if there was an interchangeable bracket.
No need to get skeptical! Just read what the press is saying and all your doubts will disappear!
- "The BEST portable rig I have ever heard." -- Audio 360
- "Accuracy as a sensation: clean, crisp, and detailed. Goodman's Glove is bang on the money" - Digital Audio Review.
If you have an Astell and Kern AK100 or AK120, you OWE it to yourself to get this amp -- your sound quality will shoot sky high!
Michael Mercer (Audio 360, Daily Swarm, Positive Feedback Online, others) actually thinks that the AK120 paired up with the GloveAudio A1 will sound better than the brand new AK240, which is twice the cost of this combo!
I was slightly skeptical of form factor and adding width to the AK100/AK120 after being shown the A1, but it actually grips very comfortably in the hand and fits nicely in the pocket. If you have an AK100/AK120, this is a pretty neat little gadget.
Note however that I do not wear skinny jeans.
