Just received the watch. Looks great, but there is a speck of dust under the glass at around 6 o'clock (11 o'clock @24h). This is really bugging me. Is this normal? Will massdrop replace it?

DeviantTofuI adjusted the watch to the current time and date (9th). It turns out the number 9 in the date window has a scratch on the top-right side (see photo). I did check all the dates on the date wheel and only "9" has this issue (lucky day I guess). The dust is also visible in this shot at 11 o'clock (24h scale). Is this enough cause for a replacement?

xiaoqizThanks for the link. I did contact massdrop support. They basically said go contact manufacture directly :( I'm still hesitating whether to do that since I'm sure it will take a long time for them to resolve this plus shipping. I wonder if I was just unlucky and got a dud or others have similar issues.

DeviantTofuMD takes no responsibility for that??? I'm sorry to see their reaction like that. Mine comes sans defect but that attitude from MD is horrible and unacceptable, I may cease buying through MD unless someone clarify the situation here.

xiaoqizI'm quite disappointed. I expected something like "ship it back and we will replace it"; but here is massdrop's response: --- Thank you for reaching out to Massdrop Community Support. My name is Jodi, and I'm sorry about the scratch and dust under the face of the watch. I'm happy to see that your order came with a manufacturer's warranty! This particular vendor asks that members contact them directly for replacement units. You can reach them here:  International Watch Service Center 9298 South 500 West Sandy, UT 84070 Tel: 800-463-6816 repairs@IWSCwatchrepair.com When you contact them, please make sure you provide your transaction ID and have your proof of purchase ready. DeviantTofuHere is an update to this:
So I called the number provided by massdrop's customer service. I described the issues to the person. She said that I should get replacement from where I bought it. So I said I bought from massdrop but massdrop told me to contact you. She then said: 1) they don't do replacement, only repairs; 2) they've never heard of massdrop; 3) I have to pay for repairs myself first since they can't verify where I bought my watch; and 4) call Invicta and see what they can do. So I called Invicta. The customer service person said that I should get replacement from wherever I purchased it (in this case Massdrop).
Needless to say, I'm very unhappy with massdrop. They are the ones who took my money but do not want to take responsibility when their item is defective.
@Massdrop: like I described above, your vendor told me they never heard of you and would not replace my defective watch. Please fix this!

Vincent.HHello Vincent, please note that I would like to get a replacement not a repair, as the watch is newly purchased and defective on arrival.
I did received an email late yesterday afternoon from the massdrop customer service rep stating that massdrop will source a replacement from the vendor to ship to me. I would very much prefer this, as opposed to asking me to contact IWSC to do repairs (I do not believe asking a customer who just bought a new watch from you to go repair the watch is the right way to handle this).
As such, please follow through with the replacement watch. I anxiously await the replacement and will update you (and fellow massdrop members) on the status of this matter.

Vincent.HVincent van you help me with my problem? I've been trying to reach Massdrop to get the paperwork and warranty info for my watch, which was shipped without it.

DeviantTofu@xiaoqiz @Vincent.H @PetrosD Here is another update:
Massdrop service rep wrote back and told me that they CANNOT replace the watch. I can either ship it back and get a refund or get it repaired from the repair center. As I stated in my previous comment, I consider this to be quite irresponsible of massdrop.
On a separate note, I've noticed that the movement also has problems: unscrewing the crown will start to adjust the date, even before it is completely unscrewed (skipping the manual winding position). It will pop out to the correct position after continuing to unscrew for a while (while changing dates for around 20-30 days).
Needless to say, I'm not very happy with massdrop's quality of product nor their service.

DeviantTofuI have the exact same problem with mine. It happened when it was new and after a week I was able to unscrew the crown without it changing the date, as long as I did it carefully. I thought it was going to be fine, but today I had the same problem with the date changing before the crown would pop out to the wind position (let alone to the date and GMT change position). It is frustrating because it is impossible to unscrew the crown to even wind the watch without the date changing.
I am working with MD to get the warranty card and info that was missing from my watch (they are helping get it), and after that I will decide whether to send it in for warranty work. Regardless, the craftsmanship and quality of the watch is disappointing, and is only even remotely worth it at the drop price. I had been researching Glycine and had planned on buying a Combat Sub and an Airman Base 22. Those dollars will now go to other brands.
I can't necessarily hold MD accountable for the quality problems or their response. The watches can be repaired under warranty and, even if I could trade it in for another, I don't know that one would be any better. Maybe better the devil you know, at least in my case. I like the design enough to keep it and not seek a refund, but I have much less heralded watches that are far superior in quality.

PetrosD@PetrosD @itsme1238 @Vincent.H @xiaoqiz This is turning out to be a real nightmare. I just received the watch back from repair (after about 1 month and paying $28 for inspection fee). I was anxious to check out the repaired watch, only to find out that they did NOT fix the problems! One rep from the repair center actually called me two weeks again to verify the problems, and assured me that the movement will be replaced, which will fixed the "moving date while unscrewing crown" and "scratch on date wheel" problems. But the watched arrived today with the EXACT SAME problems.
I called IWSC (Invicta's official repair service in the US) just now. They said to send it back in and they will take another look (and potentially have to charge me for repairs).
@massdrop, can I return this to you and get a refund? I just want this nightmare to be over with.

DeviantTofuI'm really sorry to hear that. Mine will still occasionally change the date when unscrewing the crown, but not always. I haven't sent it for repair because if it doesn't happen when they have the watch, they'll send it back in the same condition.
Ironically, I just this evening received a previously owned Glycine Airman 1953 LE that I bought from eBay. The crown is noticeably better on that older model. That supports my reasoning to not buy any more Glycines. I'm not an Invicta bigot (I have two) but the difference in crown quality is noticeable between the two.

PetrosDThat's a beautiful watch you got there. Unfortunately looks like Glycine is no longer a quality watch it used to be. I'm also leaning towards just returning it instead of trying to get it repair again.

Pawelsz77I did not send mine in for service. I have learned how to carefully maneuver the crown when setting the time. Sometimes the date changes but, because it's been out of rotation, the date needs to be changed anyway.
