JajelakasI own an SST 12 and I actually like the GMT more than I thought, but I still vote purist. I picked a black purist 40mm myself.
The GMT has the advantage of tracking 3 time zones (one 12 hour for main hour hand, one 24hr GMT hand with inner markings, and one zone using the GMT hand and the outer bezel). I keep my local time on the 12 hour, GMT on the inner, and my flexible time zone on the outer bezel when I travel.
JajelakasI'm completely undecided about this!
Don't you think the lume pips on the purist are completely useless? In addition they should have a smaller pip on every other hour like on the base 22 that would make so much more sense.
And with the GMT, the tail on the 12-hour hand, is that just a nod to history rather than an actual useful implementation?
I love this watch, but decisions decisions!
Does anyone know the lug-to-lug on the 40mm?
One of these WILL be bought that's for sure...
HanstarlosSpeaking for myself, I like the simplicity of the purist. Less things to set. Also, I have a GMT-hand watch already, and the 24-hr dial (with the nifty tail on the hour hand) makes this one stand out in my collection.
MdrtorontoAgreed, the purist is the only way to go for me with this one. I love the new size option and have a feeling this will stay with me for many years alongside the vintage Airman from the 60's.

JajelakasI'd say purist for sure, since everything else is consistent with the original. That's one of the major details that sets these Glycine Airman watches apart!
