With just 5 hours left I'm still too conflicted on this purchase. On one hand, it's a quality watch that offers some unique appeal that I've really liked for some time. On the other hand, I have much reason for concern, especially given this would be my first drop. The inconsistencies in the pictures provided & the reports from previous drops have me skeptical on whether or not this will prove to be worth the uncertainty.
Might another beer or two sway me to pull the trigger? I'm hoping so.
IgnoramusThis is my first drop as well. I've been looking at the Glycine Airman for a few months now and this model in my opinion is the best looking of the lot. I like watches that have a vintage feel and this looks exactly the same as the original one made in 1953. The price is just amazing for such a great watch with a limited production run. This one will be worth much more in the years to come. I don't think there is much risk in buying this watch. At the end of the day there is not a lot to go wrong and it won't cost much to fix. It's only a watch with an ETA movement which is the Toyota engine of the Swiss watch world and most watchmakers can sort out problems quickly and cheaply. At this price it's a historical horological bargain! Have three beers and you'll buy it too!
IgnoramusI own two Glycine watches I bought over the past 2 years or so, and both of them are excellent for what you pay. Superb timekeeping from my Combat Sub and my Double 12 with ETA 2824 movements, both always within a couple of seconds a day or better. Real value for the money. I have read the comments about the DC-4 drop from a while back and was wondering what happened, too. It is possible that those comments are retarding this drop which should be far more successful. However, seeing as the guy from Glycine USA is contributing to this thread, I am pretty certain that whatever happened there will NOT happen with this watch drop. I only wish I had room on my Visa to buy this beautiful thing, but will have to wait until mid-June and hope I can pick it up somewhere at this great price.
IgnoramusI own a DC-4 that I bought elsewhere and I had problems too. As far as I could tell, everyone selling DC-4s in the USA had the same supplier. I haven't heard of problems with any other Glycine models, so I believe it was the DC-4 itself rather than Massdrop.
Jimbo85281I'm not from massdrop or the other mob. I'm just a bloke on a farm who likes watches and I think this is a beaut! Can't wait for it to drop on my barn!
