Sellita are actually better quality and more expensive than ETA as Sellita makes them on new machines whereas ETA machines are much older. Sellita also uses one extra jewel (26 not 25 that ETA use). This will be a base level ETA movement.

MotorradWell we shall see when it arrives. There's been a question about this same watch that a U.K. company did a similar clearance price deal on a few months ago. One was sold on and appeared to be fitted with an unsigned clone 2824 (but it was possibly swapped out by the first owner) hence why I say it should be a base ETA2824 but it might not be!

FinepicsNot necessary that Sellita has better quality... if you know the history, Sellita actually has a little copycat history from ETA as ETA is the original maker and has more to offer but recent years they have stopped. ETA use to sends movements to Sellita for extra finish work in the past, such as pearling and decorating movement, Sellita got into the movement building part in 2003 with there first movement the sw200, almost a copy of the ETA 2824

searchingYes I'm aware of the history of Sellita and ETA. The big question is if the movement fitted in these Glycine watches is actually an ETA at all (as it's most unlikely to be an SW200 given that they're more expensive than a base ETA). Both SW's and ETA'a are usually marked as such but the watch being discussed in a UK forum was fitted with a completely unmarked movement raising a question about its origin and my local Glycine dealer said they couldn't even buy the Combat 7 in at these prices!!
But as I said the watch in the U.K. discussion could have had its original movement swapped out for the unsigned movt by its first owner before being sold on. This only came to light after being damaged and a watchmaker tried to fit an ETA balance shaft which wouldn't fit!!

FinepicsIf that is the case, when we get our products we should send it to our local watch shops to check if its an original movement or not. Also I was wondering if it was not an original movement could we get a refund? (as I am new here I do not know the Policies here)

searchingI'll be taking mine apart for a closer inspection when it arrives. It's not enough to put me off at this price regardless, and as I say the likelihood is that the particular watch in question was tampered with before being sold on.

FinepicsWhat is in question here? The GL224 is simply a Glycine badged and finished 2824...and had always been, afaik. Many manufacturers that license ETA movements do this.

heysplangyThe question is if the movt is even ETA at all or a clone.
