Joined for the 0078. That red bezel was killing me. Anyone else not so thrilled about the Golden eye? I was between that one and the blue bezel with the blue sunburst dial, which looks amazing as well (there's a YT review on the 2 Tone, looks dressy, really charming) but I think the red gives me that "Black Bay" allure that I can't afford right now. I bet the 0078 on a distressed leather strap will look great. Already ordering a milano mesh. Impulse buy here, I swore I'd restrain myself after my Chr Ward Trident, but this one so tempting...

diegohgYeah I was between the Goldeneye and the Blue on Blue which looks amazing. Goldeneye is pretty unique and very recognizable. That's the charm with it. It's like Glycine's flagship. And people are very attracted to it. I would get both the Goldeneye and the Blue Bezel Blue Dial but I couldn't pull it off this time.

Micky99So, have you bought the blue one?
And I should mention, given the presence of Arabic numerals on the 0078, its design clearly steers away from the Tudor BB, so homage or not, is Kosher. Instead, for those who bought the 0092, you should feel bad about yourself, that's a black hat homage my friends. Every time you put it on the wrist, you'll remember these words *evil laugh muahahaha*

diegohgWhat is a "black hat homage"? I am unfamiliar...

mrfuriouserIt's a poetic license I take to understand better the subject. There's a whole debate on the internet about good and bad homages, even people mixing then with fake watches. So I like to think that there are two type of homages: White hat and black hat, just like in other places such as the SEO community. For instance, the Steinhart that looks exactly like the Rolex GMT Master II is a Black Hat Homage (not a rip off, certainly not a replica), while the Ocean Titanium 500 is a White Hat Homage, Kosher. By the way, I was joking about the Combat Sub that looks like the Tudor BB. You do whatever you want, I'm cool with it :)

diegohgI was lucky enough to buy the Goldeneye. I will perhaps buy the blue hold two tone in the future or save up and get one of the Breitlings... If they drop a 44mm. I also have a Steinhart Ocean One Vintage Red. It is similar to a Rolex but, so is every other dive watch. Even Seikos are in some way similar to a Rolex. Even Rolex came off Blancpain. Most dive watches have some sort of a common look to them. The Steinhart is a really great way to have a top quality watch without it being a Rolex or a lesser quality Seiko. Personally, I don't like the Rolex Submariner. It's kind of for old/older people, provokes unwanted attention. Then there's the cost factor which is stupid in my age. 6-7-8k for a watch? I'd rather buy a Steinhart or a Glycine and take my girl traveling.

Micky99I owned the Steinhart Ocean Titanium 500, and it was rather disappointing. I wanted to like that watch, but it just didn't happened. Maybe in the future I'd try their take ok the Mil Sub. In my experience, the best value props in that price range are Chr Ward, Oris and perhaps a Seiko Prospex. Let's hope this Glycine is another good example of good value. And regarding the Rolex, I don't have enough disposable income to justify it, though it would be cool. Same for an Omega PO. Cheers!

diegohgThat's a nice watch. I felt the same the first week I bought the OVR. I thought it looked like a Rolex too much. I nearly got rid of it but then I put it on a rubber strap and changed the bezel to a ceramic one. Makes a world of difference. I think this is a great quality watch and I love the domed crystal and the AR coating, perfect size for me as well. I don't think you can get a better quality watch under $1,500-$2,000. And it's basically like cars now. They all look the same. I'm a huge car enthusiast. All the Japanese cars looks the same. I got a '14 Mazda 3 and a guy told me "Hey that's a nice Lexus". I never thought it looked like a Lexus but it kind of does from the rear. I saw a Honda and a Nissan parallel to each other the other day. Looked very similar. It's going to be the same with watches. I know Steinhart is already making a killing selling these watches (they're regularly sold out). Watches are coming back as a thing and I bet they're gonna sell even more in the future.
As for Rolex, I think it's too much of a status symbol for me to buy it right now. I could buy it but I probably wouldn't wear it. Second thing is the reliability and the maintenance costs the owners are whining about.
All the best to you Diego and enjoy your new Glycine. I never had one but it should be really good. I got the feeling we are both younger gents and we should allocate more $$ on seeing our beautiful planet and people rather than Rolexes! Just search YouTube for Blue Hole Belize! :-)

Micky99That's a great looking Steinhart, I think they nailed it. It would be perfect to me if they modified just a bit the Mercedes hands. That's what I loved about the Titanium one. Maybe when I finally decide to buy one, I will have it changed the hands, as a 'ease of mine mod' I guess. All the best to you as well Sir, have a great summer.
