Got my sub today everything good but the bezel has slight play up and down. Seems to pop up in forums around does it really make any functional difference to the watch?

Watchnab54Mine has a small amount of play when you press the bezel down. Nothing to be concerned about. What I was concerned about was that the watch was +10spd out of the box. I bought one of those cheap blue demagnetizers on amazon and demagnetized it, now it's averaging around +5.9 seconds, which I'm OK with. The spec for the GL224 movement is +/- 7 sec daily. (based on the ETA2824-2 Elabore)

AsharusI might need to buy one of those, so far it's about 8.8secs fast I'll wait until a couple of days to get proper figures.

Watchnab54Yep, most will be satisfied with +/- 10 seconds on a non COSC watch. I guess I'm just surprised because my Combat 7 with the same exact movement was +2 out of the box, and can be anywhere between -2 or +2 sec/day depending on how I rest it at night. Luck of the draw....

AsharusSo long as it gains time I'm happy, my skx loses time and it drives me crazy. Enjoy your sub

Watchnab54I had a Sumo myself that was losing 20 to 6 sec/day. Could not stand it and let it go. These Glycines are much better and more reliable. The 6R15 is tough, but doesn't compare to the 2824-2. The Combat Sub is roughly the same price as the Sumo and comes with a better movement and sapphire crystal. No brainer. The 7S26 is a different story. I don't think I could deal with a -30/+30 movement.

AsharusWhy don't they advertise this as an ETA 2824? This watch is a steal for a 2824. I think only Hamilton offers something for less, and these look cooler. I already have a diver with a 2824, but I paid $600 for it. I would have rather bought this. Even the lowest grade ETA movements are quite nice. The high-end ones are far better than all the new "in house" garbage being marketed today. I am currently debating between a Tudor and an eterna, but I only want a Tudor with a proven movement. As for th 6R15, I have a few, and the big deal is variance. Some are amazing and some just plain suck (just like the 4R36). I feel like every ETA 2824, Unitas 6498 or Valjoux 7750 is rock solid and reliable.

SkipPpBecause it's not a base 2824, they have decorated it with their rotor, etc. and use the Elabore 2824-2 as its base. Just like Hamilton uses the H-10 movement, which is a based off of a 2824 as well, with their modifications, such as lowering the beat rate to 21,600 to get a power reserve of 80 hours.
I would not have known that the GL224 is a 2824 either unless I googled it.
FYI, I flipped my Vanguard model for a blue one, and the blue one performs just as good as my Combat 7. Currently running -2 to +2, but I can easily get it to 0spd by resting it on its crown at night. Amazing movement....
