If it wasn't for the cheap bezel construction, I'd buy the Tudor Black Bay homage. For now, it'd probably have to drop to ~$300 for me to jump on it.
I already have the Goldeneye and it's shockingly thin. A huge plus for this watch. It's a dress watch dressed as a diver ;-)

SpiritOneWhat is cheap about the bezel? You equate thin with cheap?

Erik1Seems to have a bad rap where the bezel does not align with the hour markers that a good quality Swiss time piece should

Erik1I’m not knocking on Glycine as it is a good and reputable brand. Someone asked why was the bezel cheap and from my readings in some of the comments I mentioned it as a possible reason. I am sure it is a small fraction, but none the less a reason. In comparison to rolex and omega, I’ve never had an issue with either and own several of both brands

BearyWell cheapness doesn't have anything to do with the alignment issue (if it exists). Maybe just should have said mis- aligned bezels or maybe poor quality control. But there have only been a couple in this thread and Mass drop took the watch back so not really a good reason to avoid the watch or brand. On the contrary, there have been many more instances of people saying how nice the watch was and how impressed they we're with the watch. I have 2 glycine and I was quite impressed with both so I would say don't miss out on some fine watches.

BearyThanks. I just happened to have it on when I read the comment. Need to get that nato I saw in this thread though - the black with two thin orange stripes and a thin grey in the center. Anyway itlooked great with this model.

Erik1Err...
The bezel is 60 click instead of 120 and is prone to scratches. That's what I meant by cheap.
Also, the bezel action feels poor and is more prone to getting particles underneath it (you can wash it out but still).
So, a thin diver is the selling point of this watch. It is a good watch, but the bezel is a bit of a turn off for me.

SpiritOneFair enough I guess but mine isn't scratched, bezel feels fine and don't even know how you would know there were "particles" under it??? So are you saying you have or had one and experienced this first hand?

Erik1An aluminum bezel should hold up but it isnt very durable if it comes under pressure of any sort. Which on the scale of economy Glycine/Invicta goes through..... it's them saving a few pennies.
As for particles, the bezel will seem stuck or harder to turn. I believe this may have something to do with the tolerances they have. Again it can ve washed out and move on but still.
The particle thing isn't huge and neither is it being 60 clicks (less likely to be misaligned and if you don't use it it shouldn't matter). However, the cheapo aluminum bezel screams cost saving measure and is upsetting to see.

SpiritOneBased on your comments I think it is likely that you just don't like that Invicta purchased Glycine.
So you show your disdain by criticizing the bezel not thinking that you would have to defend that comment. So first we get number of clicks, then "particle s" until now you settle on the aluminum bezel insert. You go as far as blaming Invicta and say it reeks of cost cutting.
But the bezel inset has always been aluminum going back before Invicta, and most watches have alumumin bezel inserts, so are you eliminating them all?

RazenbyYeah the whole 60 vs 120 thing is a non issue. That is a design decision and I have hear actual divers say that 60 is preferable because they tend to be less likely to move accidently and they dont need 30 second accuracy.

As mentioned above to Eric above, I was not trying to knock on Glycine (which again is a respectable Swiss brand with a storied past), but merely guessing as to why the cheap bezel comment was made. Having read thru the comments there were several people stating (to clarify, I do not have an exact count as you requested by you are more than welcome to go thru and tally it up) they had a mis-alignment issue which I would be bugged about.

Erik1I ordered this model (GL0088), looks great! I've had my eye on Glycine watches for some time and when this came up, I had to jump on it.
How do you like it?

The only bezel I have out of probably 30 watches, to have any damage to a bezel is a moded SKX, and the damage is only noticeable on looking closely and I've had it for nearly 15 years. The crystal was way more scratched and unbearable to look at. I think most /all are aluminum. The pictures below are watches that I have had a long time and these really took beatings - look at the crystals! Yet the bezels are not bad. Damage can happen to any part of any watch but unless you are really rough on them the bezels don't usually suffer the worst.

SpiritOneCheck out used Omega Seamaster 300...I barely saw any unscratched, most of them are usually heavily scratched. Longines Hydroconquest Blue version? Very high rate of losing bezel color after few years....

Erik1Aluminum bezels all scratch Given time. This is the case all over the watch industry. Aluminum scratches and watches bang into things; stop accusing people of some kind of anti-Glycine ranting when they are trying to tell you the truth. Oh no, I must be anti-Aluminum...! How many elements of the Periodic Table can I hate? ”I bet you hate Gravity too! Did you fall yourself or did you just hear a rumour it was Gravity? Did you See Gravity do it? Liar!” Jeez...

AxeguyYou are an idiot.
I just showed you 7 year old beater that doesn't have a scratch on the bezel. All aluminum bezels don't necessarily scratch over time. At some point they will all melt when the sun explodes but that time frame is not relevant. This whole stupid conversation started with a dumb unsupported comment that the bezel construction was cheap. He could have said "I have recently decided not to buy a watch with an aluminum bezel because I tend to be rough with watches and aluminum scratches easily". I would have thought "Fair enough " and moved on without comment. But instead I was concerned because I have the watch and thought maybe something had escaped my notice and wanted to know what it might be. It took 3 or 4 attempts by this fellow to settle on aluminum as the problem. And then tried to make it an Invicta driven cheapening of the watch. This despite the widespread industry use of aluminum and the fact that Glycine has always used aluminum in this watch's bezel. It may be cheap compared to some materials but if you are throwing out all watches with aluminum bezel inserts you are excluding the vast majority of all watches available.

Erik1Just because your watch isn’t scratched, they don’t scratch...? You’re the idiot, Socrates1. A lot of watch brands have moved on from the 70s when it comes to the construction of their bezels; care to guess why? Shake your head and get some sleep. Stop ripping on people who are trying to expand your mind beyond your own watch collection.

AxeguyFirst of all, the thread has been contentious but polite until you came along. Your first comment to me was not only rude and full of gibberish about the period table and gravity, but also directly contradicted by the comment to which you responding. Now I see you are the type that write one thing in a comment and when it is indefensible act like you said something else. i.e. "all aluminum bezels scratch" becomes "just because your watch didn't scratch doesn't mean that aluminum doesn't scratch". See? I never said aluminum didn't scratch, in fact I am certain it will. But it doesn't scratch as easily as you would like to claim and you can own and wear watches with aluminum bezels for a lifetime and not scratch them. The whole issue is does an aluminum bezel mean cheap construction? Is it appropriate when discussing a watch to just say it has cheap bezel construction and not explain why? A $349 watch? No, if you think it is cheap construction you say "the bezel is cheaply constructed because they use aluminum in the insert" (of course so do most other watches so it still doesn't make a lot of sense) .
Expand my mind? Really? Sorry, your very first words to me demonstrate you are mental midget.

SpiritOneInvicta's acquisition of Glycine has not led to cost-cutting measures in terms of design or manufacture. I have yet to hear of an example that took place after the buy-out. Glycine's problems, however grave or superficial anyone perceives them to be, are Glycine's problems. The only negative effect of their association with Invicta is loss of value triggered by snobbish attitudes. Time will tell if any material changes will take place.
