ManiackWhy would it be? Keycaps are bad if they're from a bad manufacturer, not because they're ABS, PBT, or something else. I enjoy both, even if both have distinct pros and cons.
ManiackEw. I avoid PBT whenever possible.
Despite what many will say on some forums, PBT is simply not superior to ABS. PBT will resist shine better but it WILL shine (just ask any of my PBT Space bars on heavily used keyboards). PBT is also more prone to warping as well.
Manufacturer and overall quality far outweighs the material of the keycaps. GMK ABS is infinitely better than Tai Hao PBT. Signature Plastics SA ABS is far superior to cheap PBT as well.
Also, let us not forget POM <3
livingspeedbumpi love pom as well, how does thick GMK PBT compare to ABS double shot, in terms of sound,?
I really like the deep ping of the pom, and i have some thin PBT as well and they sound hallow.
BellThis buy will happen regardless of MOQ so it will go through.
GMK only does ABS, but it sounds fine, definitely not hollow. They are some of the thickest caps out there for sure. Way better than thin PBT!
GiammaDyesub pbt will shine too, just take longer. And the shine from GMK ABS isn't that nasty. Just believe in Germany quality (GMK keycaps are made in Germany).
ManiackDo you ever have PBT that come when you bu poker2/pok3r?
Do you ever have ABS made by GMK?
Yes I do for both and I can say the PBT from poker2/pok3r is shit compared to ABS from GMK. PBT and ABS is just specimen name of plastics, the quality/durability still can vary based on the raw material and the process.
JebbraI've tried almost every vintage cap out there until I've settled on Topre PBT and I can say that I will aviod ABS whenever I possibly can.
Absolutely, the manufacturing process is important but I am not quite sure that "Quality" ABS will be less prominent to shine because the material itself is the problem. It could be that a much higher texture on top of the caps will delay the shine a bit longer, but that has nothing to do with the actual material.
