ideusThat doesn't make sense. He's saying that an entire mechanical keyboard could be bought for this price. No need to bring rubber domes into the conversation at all. He's clearly an enthusiast. The line has to be drawn somewhere. These caps are overpriced. The dolch dsa pbt set is also ridiculously priced but at least they look very high quality. These look average. You're basically paying for weird colors.

SoundtoxinGMK keycaps are widely regarded as the best quality keycaps available - only rivaled by the similairly prices Signature Plastics keycaps.
Consider GMK and SP keycaps collectors items and you might understand why people still buy them. Or get a set yourself ... Maybe people will start taking your seriously when you know what you're talking about.

SoundtoxinAs any product, this one is not for all.
There are mechanical keyboards starting around sixty dollars or so, some Chinese brands that have been offered here or in their sites, you can get a Poker under one hundred and twenty of course, they do come with a basic set of key caps that may be enough for some; if you are happy with those, there is no need for you to be concern about this set, move forward and get what you prefer. It is your money, it is your call.
Some of us prefer custom made keyboards that do not come with a key set, and we want to get the best experience out of them, so we consider a set like this and some others with even higher prices, again, it is our money, it is our call. You may criticize people buying this set all that you want, it only reveals that you do not understand the reasons why a set like this could be this pricey, which is OK, but that does not change the fact of its value for other people.

ideusAnd by that same token, there is nothing wrong with noting that the price in LordRavenDark's opinion is too high. I second his opinion. I would consider something like this is the price was cut in half. At the end of the day, the cost of the materials and design do not justify the price of the end product.
Typed on my KC60 with Tai Hao Doubleshot and aluminum case. Yes, even those of us wanting a custom experience may decide that this price is pretty ridiculous.

n00tchGood for you. What I do not understand is the need to post complaining on the price if you are not buying, it is like whining about someone else order in a restaurant. If you get a hamburger under ten bucks, why do you complain about the seventy some one else paid for a filet mignon. Do you think all the people should get only hamburgers?

n00tchIt is, and hopefully it will come down thanks to jtk and Royal kludge coming into the market with more affordable options altough the later has horrible fonts. But the only way price will come down on these is if people vote with their wallet, which will not happen anytime soon, since these guys have authentic cherry molds and a very good reputation even after some misshaps.
I say this and I have reserved a set.....

n00tchI agree with n00tch, this set is overpriced especially since its made of double ABS and some companies offer sets at the price if said rubberdomes. No matter how closely the colors match the original SNES or high quality the caps are, they do shine over time unlike PBT caps with moderate to heavy use. Keycaps are meant to be used, not to be put on displays unless you're a collector.
As a person who plans on using purchased keycaps like its nobody's business, at this price it should have at least two of the following qualities: custom profile, made of exotic materials that does not shine with use, or handmade. But these keys are meant to appeal to the retro and/or the financially well off crowds. While I'm of the former group, the practical side of me can't justify this kind of money as I have many other financial obligations more important than these. I'd pay 1/2 the cost at most if these keys are made of PBT.

dq2014Just wrong. PBT caps do shine over time, they just take longer than usual. GMK also resists shine just as well as any PBT caps ive owned.
You are also comparing cheap, thin ABS that is mass produced to high quality, thick ABS that is a custom order.

ideusAnd as far as we know they have. I've heard of very very few issues with hyperfuse. My set is perfect. (as was my TA set, but I digress).
Since we've rolled over to a new page, and apparently need to keep having this conversation: daily reminder that no one gives a shit what you aren't buying. If your mind boggles at the price, you aren't the target audience! So scram, kids.

wilarsenySame here, all my Hyperfuse and TA sets came in perfect with no imperfections at all with any of them. Also recent Dolch purchases came in perfectly as well. Maybe overall I'm a very lucky individual ; )
Because a handful got some damaged samples doesn't make it "everyone" getting the same dodgy caps.
Again, GMK key-caps are way better than the cheapo Chinese made guff which is appropriately priced, yet take a close look at their so-called quality.

n00tchI like this clown, comparing German made key-caps in the Euro Zone should drop their prices so that would mean they should drop wages for all of their workers, as well?
The Chinese have very cheap parts because they pay their workers much lower wages plus where they live, further ensures a much lower standard of living.
When any moron here on MassDrop start suggesting that ALL companies start producing lower priced goods to please their penny-pinching behaviour, I say go and work in those lower priced countries that pay their workers next to nothing, then report here how brilliant it is to be in their shoes, sunshine.

n00tchBut the thing is, they ARENT overpriced. You CANNOT buy GMK caps for cheaper, let alone CUSTOM MATCHED PLASTICS. Everyone seems to be overlooking this fact. THIS IS THE CHEAPEST THEY GET; just get over it and don't buy them if you're poor.

ideusCrazy idea here, but have you ever thought that the manufacturer might be reading this? I know, I know, I'm not allowed to have an opinion on anything that doesn't agree with your worldview. But just maybe, they might read some of this feedback. If enough people "complain" you might see other products brought out tailored to address those concerns. Freaking insane, am I right?

BOX_OF_SOMETHINGSorry but I don't think you know what you are talking about, did you even order TA? I do feel everyone is entitled to their opinion, but there are so many people in the thread complaining (mostly about cost) that have never even seen a GMK keycap....
You seem to have "a beef" with GMK, do you own any yourself sir?
I have 9 sets from GMK & they are all perfect - including TA.

n00tchYour head is in your ass. Everyone is incorrectly perceiving the value. These caps would easily be worth what they were selling for upon release, and likely double by this date.
