I love the GoPro promotional videos on YouTube! My videos with the same “latest/greatest” GoPro cameras always look 10x worse—bouncy, blurry, etc. I’ve asked GoPro how they get such smooth videos and never got a helpful response, I asked what video editing software too.

Billy-BobbyThe video quality itself is exactly as they show in their promotional videos on youtube. However, they probably spend a fair amount of time figuring out where to film and how lighting and weather will affect their video. Not to mention, taking and editing action footage smooth and simplistic enough to prevent youtube's compression algorithm from tanking the bit rate is an art in itself. Often because objects appear so sharp, clear, and moving quickly across the frame, youtube's bit rate has to drop in order to compensate.
The problem is, gopros are high shutter speed, so the video will always look like choppy individual photos frame by frame. Theoretically, the best way to combat youtube's compression is by applying some sort of motion blur to the video. Motion blur if done correctly will smooth out the fast moving sections that your eye can't catch anyway, while keeping the stationary/focused parts of the frame in high detail, doing youtube's job for it without everything look bad. Editing might be able to achieve this, but you will probably have better results using an ND filter or something. Also, the gopro's new image stabilization feature will help prevent bit rate drops caused by quick jolts of the frame.
For the most part though, I find that the videos gopro uploads to be pretty honest. The way youtube's compression algorithm reacts to the video all depends on what you are using the camera for.

Billy-Bobbydo you have a good stabilizer? theres in camera stabilization, but it doesn't compare to a proper one.
