Wow, so many DAC/amps on sale these days. PS Sprout has just dropped. Same price. A rival to the m9XX.

DeathbyMusicI wonder why the PS Sprout hasn't been more well received? By the way, what would be your tax savings with NAFTA?

OrmiaWell, the drop is a no-go because it's at MSRP, lol. Sells on Amazon for $100 less, last I checked.

DeathbyMusicI don't think the PS Sprout is in the same class as the m9XX. I bought the PS Sprout from the Kickstarter project. What the Sprout offers is the convenience of having multiple source of inputs as well as a build-in amplifier that can drive external speaker. But the sound, while definitely acceptable, is lacking when compared to my QLS QA360 Music Player. The noticeable difference is the lack of bass in comparison. Since I use the Noble Audio K10 CIEM for my listening pleasure, it also highlights the lacking of the bass in the Sprout.
Giving the reviews of m9XX so far, they all sang the virtue of solid bass (probably due to its cross-link design), I'm more inclined to believe it is already better than the Sprout in this area. Another issue I've with the Sprout is the volume control. For some reason, after it passed the 12:00 O'clock position, there is a negligible increase of volume when I moved it from 01:00 O'clock position to 05:00 O'clock position. I've got a feeling that the m9XX will probably blow my ears drum off if I cranked it all the way up in high power-mode.
In summary, the Sprout is now relegated to TV watching only. And for pleasurable music enjoyment, I'm using the QA360. What I like about the m9XX is my ability to use QA360 toslink optical output to drive the m9XX if I prefer the m9XX sound better.
I can't wait for this drop to end so I can try the m9XX.
YOLO is the reason I'm going for the m9XX.
Cheers!

DeathbyMusicAre you from Canada? Does it matter what province you're from?

OrmiaSo yeah, clearly we're in different places. What province really depends on your country. In the USA, yeah, it matters. There are different states with different tax laws, including import tax. Other countries are more uniform, as is the case with South Korea. Out import tax laws are clearly stated and uniform everywhere.

DeathbyMusicOh nice, I'm originally from Toronto. Current working in Minnesota... so there's no sales tax for me because Massdrop is based outside of Minnesota. The other half of my family is from Busan.

OrmiaThat's cool! I used to be in NY. But now I'm in Gyeonggi-do. I am planning on visiting Busan soon as I'm looking into grad school. Who knows? if you ever end up visiting Busan, lmk.
