Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

I've had my m9XX since the first drop (Nov 18 delivery). I was interested to try the crossfade feature since none of my other gear has a crossfade feature. (I'm sure it could be done with software, too, but I like to keep things simple.) I tried crossfade when I first got the m9XX, but it narrows the soundstage significantly, so I didn't think I would use it much.
I've been listening to a lot of David Bowie this week (RIP :(), and I noticed that Space Oddity and a few other tracks have completely different material (voices, guitar, drums) on the left and right channels. I also noticed that it sounds a bit unnatural when listening through headphones. It almost makes me uncomfortable. I've been an audio enthusiast for many years, but I've only become interested in headphones in the past few years. I guess it is only now that I noticed this issue with listening to tracks like this on headphones. I do remember reading that this is the kind of track for which people like to use crossfade, but I failed to include such tracks in my previous experimentation with the crossfade feature.
So this morning I am back at my desk with my m9XX, and I'm testing out the crossfade feature with Space Oddity. I like crossfade for this track. You can still hear the different sounds coming from the left and right, but the borderline-uncomfortable feeling is gone. On my previous tests of crossfade with different tracks, I didn't like that I lost soundstage width, but the soundstage is already artificial on Space Oddity, so it didn't really mind or even notice that effect with this track. So now I think I understand when to use the crossfade feature, and I'm glad that the m9XX gives me the option.
