I always told myself I would just pass on a drop if I didn't like the price instead of complaining, but I just have to ask this one time. I am missing something, or is this more expensive than the half dozen reputable stores that carry them for $150 with free shipping and no tax?
I've been waiting to get these for a while now, even at a slight discount, but its showing up more expensive then my other options which ship immediately. An explanation would be appreciated!

bjwSR125 is a little gem that get forgotten because of pricing being close to SR225. But I still think it's a good thing to look at.
My feelings towards Grado and Alessandro are mixed. I do like how M1 and SR80e sounds but upper models are becoming too harsh. Mr. Grado's age might have something to do with their tuning.
I just picked up a M1 for collection after lusting one for many years. Finally, after spending so much time with other headphones, I think I can settle down a bit.

totreI almost left the same comment, but chose against because I did not want to be "that guy" LOL But I do agree with you.
However, Grado controls product pricing tighter than a SF hipster his latte ordering preferences. Even $10-15 off is a rare occasion (and rarely sanctioned by the mother-ship).
And sales tax and shipping are always wild cards and cannot always be compared. Former is luck of vendor/buyer geographical differences and latter often depends of company's economies of scale (i.e. not everyone is Amazon).

LxJLthrI guess this would only appeal to international customers then? Anyone living in the USA can order with free shipping and no tax (one only charges tax in NY and the other only in CA and both free shipping) from either B&H or Sonic and receive it in two days.

totreYou win some, you lose some. I am also sure there are domestic people that take into account vendor and online community loyalties if the price is too close to call.

LxJLthrAn SF Hipster is much more likely to order a cappuccino. :D
chris.ywI own the SR325e and the harshness you are talking about is mostly present on the "i" series, the "e" series are not as harsh, specially the SR325i which was a pretty ear piercing pair of headphones.

chris.ywChris, I second what you day about harshness in higher Grado cans. I also owned a MS1 from Alessandro and I really enjoyed it. I finally sold it in order to buy a DT990. Now I'm regretting selling it 'cause I realized that I didn't really like the DT990 and that I was preferring closed cans. Few years after, I bought a MS2i and oh gosh how harsh it sounds!... Especially with the original Bowl pads. Now this MS2i is sleeping in its Grado case for, maybe, 3 years. Some people are talking about harshness in some Ultrasone headphones but I far much prefer Ultrasone sound signature and soundstage presentation than the MS2i. I think I'll trade it and will get a new MS1, just to have it in my collection too. :D
