Product Description
Weighing in at 7.3 ounces, the Nano 7 Ultra Light hammock is Grand Trunk’s lightest hammock yet. With aluminum carabiners and a ripstop nylon construction, this hammock can hold up to 300 pounds Read More
Last I checked the 7 is a seven foot and the picture is not for what is being sold. The 7 was on Sportsmans guide in cammo. For far less (19.00 roughly) than this 6 months ago. Plus often have no shipping Fee. For me this drop is a pass.
jaytee1972My girlfriend and have been using the Grand Trunk Nano 7 at least 5 years. They are both just like the description and pictures above. Exactly 9' x 4', 1.2 oz ripstop nylon in that same bluish grey color with the same red carabiners, which I swapped for continuous loops and dropped the weight to 5 oz. They were a bit overpriced when compared to many of the cottage vendor hammocks, but she didn't know about them at the time.
At present price is cheapest I could find. But on Amazon the old version is 17-18 for green.
im trying to find the difference from the older version to this. Beyond the newer one having binders. Not sure size or length comparison couldn’t find info
camshaftThe Nano 7 is $59 on Amazon and it's design has never changed in at least 5 years. The Ultralight that also shows up in an Amazon search, is a completely different hammock. The Nano 7 is 1.2 oz ripstop nylon the Ultralight ($14.99) is cheap polyester and weighs 12 oz.
Dutchware (very popular USA made cottage mfg) 11-foot in hexon 1.0 is only 8oz (including continuous loops), but at eleven feet is much more comfortable. Buy (or make!) Amsteel whoopie slings for the lightest possible full size setup
This is a good hammock for EDC if you EDC that sort of thing. It packs down super small (mine with tree straps and whoopie slings is about the size of a grapefruit) and it's really light. I wouldn't use it for camping but if you're out in the woods or park it's pretty nice to have and not really noticeable in your bag.
The description mentions this can be used as a tarp or shelter. Is this actually in regards to a hammock, or to a non-mentioned rainfly for said hammock?

RinyreNot an informed response, just an observation: it appears that the wiregate carabiners are the gathers for the fabric at each end on this model. So I suppose in a pinch you could take out the 'biners in order to spread the fabric fully to use it as a tarp of sorts. Whether that is a good idea or not is another matter, since hammock fabric isn't generally treated to be water repellent enough for that application. Also the thing is pretty darned small at only 4 feet wide by 9 feet.
I'm really curious who came up with that crazy line. I don't see it in the description of this product on Grand Trunk's own website. It reminds me of the kind of thing you see in the description of a knock-off product on Amazon: "this wonderful and strongly bath towel can also be used as a colorful diaper and as a head scarf when it's cold."
RinyreNot suitable as a tarp or shelter. Grand Trunk does make a hammock (I think it's the "all terrain hammock") that's marketed as being suitable for tarp use. But not the Nano 7.
At 9 feet this is barely enough for lounging... certainly isn't long enough for a comfortable sleep. Please add the dutch gear hammocks instead. Much better IMHO.
