I got mine yesterday, installed the drivers from the web (since I don't have a cd-rom drive). It worked, but boy is it a POS. This is my first experience with a tablet. Here is my mini review after around an hour of use:
It comes well packaged, with those air-filled plastic bags cushioning the main box inside the shipping box. The box it came in was thin, and had no bumps or scratches. Inside, there was a foam insert with cutouts for the pen, AA battery, pen holder(in two parts), and the tablet itself wrapped in more foam.
The instructions(two books - one for mac and one for windows) say don't plug it in until you've installed the drivers. Like I said I had to find the drivers online. On monoprice.com, the "drivers and downloads" page doesn't have anything at all listed for this model. It was a little confusing to even find the model name, since they just call it "Monoprice 10"x6.25" graphics drawing tablet". I eventually found the drivers listed on the actual product page: http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=108&cp_id=10841&cs_id=1084101&p_id=10594&seq=1&format=2.
I tried to follow the instructions in the manual, but at no point do they actually say when to plug the thing in. So I took a gamble and plugged in after installing the drivers.
It works! BUT - It's way too over sensitive, even on the lowest settings.
I figured that it just requires a little tuning in the driver settings. So I opened that up, and played with the values. Turning sliders all the way up or down seemed to do nothing, as did setting the buttons values. I thought maybe it was just something I'd have to learn, after all I've been using a mouse for 25 years.
I gave it a go with GIMP. The thing is so sensitive that it registers even when I put the pen close to the panel without touching it. Is it meant to do this? And every touch is a mouse click/hold? How do I turn this off? I don't know. The other thing new users I guess might find difficult to grasp is that it's a 1:1 translation from screen to tablet. In other words, it doesn't operate like a mouse, if you press the top left corner of your tablet, that's your screen top left corner. Then you press the pen elsewhere, it moves to that point directly, not continue from the last point.
Anyway, TLDR: you get what you pay for. It's a reasonable quality product let down by lack of proper documentation and counter-intuitive software.
I'm gonna keep playing around with it, as others seem to have posted good reviews.
