I'm loving the look of this pen, but has anyone used it? Do the nibs generally run narrow or wide? My Waterman Carene is delightful, but the medium is a broad medium, while my less expensive Shaeffer Taranis is a narrower medium (as are my Pilots). Thanks for any insight!

sherlockdoI would love an answer on this as well. I focus on Japanee pens, and my vintage Waterman medium is a wet broad, and my only Italian pen (vintage, no clue on brand) is seriously broad and so wet I need to refill it frequently (although it looks amazing).
In addition, can anyone describe the steel nib? I would like to avoid spending an extra $150 for the proper gold nib. So far I have not had good luck with steel nibs.
SkipPpHello from Italy! You are right European nibs look slightly "wet" if compared with Japanese ones. I think is difficult make a serious international standard for nibs. I mean I'm in the pen world from 1990 and this issue is again alive and with no answers. We produce this handmade pen here in Italy but our nib supplier is German Bock company, it is a well know nib company at the top of the quality and you could search for nib feedbacks on Google as well. More again both our nibs are from Bock company (steel as well as solid 18 kt gold) and while the gold nib have as feature some more flexibility them both write in the same way. I hope to have helped you and I remain at your disposal! Best from Italian Alps mountain. Maurizio
SkipPpBy the way... I forget to tell you... You could choose a fine nib instead of Medium one. It will write less wet and narrow. Regards.Maurizio
sherlockdoHello, thank you for your positive words! Is the very first time we sell it here over Massdrop and so you will not find nobody able to answer but we sell it in other sites and then we have sold here on Massdrop hundreds of pens equipped with the same nib so you may search for "Grifos" and find other closed drops of our pens with hundreds of customer posts. We offer nib choice on the drop and you could choose Fine,Medium Broad nib which will meet your need. This pens is handmade by us here in Italy but our nib supplier is German Bock company, it is a well know nib company at the top of the quality and you could search for nib feedbacks on Google as well. I remain at your disposal! Best regards from Italy! Maurizio

StubnibOh no, I just realized the fine nib is not available in a solid gold version. Any chance it can be included?
sherlockdoActually we have available solid gold nib with fine point. I do not know why M.D. staff have not added this option. Provably a misunderstanding between us. Sorry for this. The problem is that I do not know a fast way to fix it now that the drop is quite ended. May be you could contact Liz of M.D. staff. I will do the same from my side. May be she could find a way. Regards Maurizio
