Hello. Beautiful pen! I was wondering who is the manufacturer of the IPG nibs on this pen?
JdjungHello, thank you! I'm not sure what you mean with "IGP"... Thank you to let me know. Regards from Italy Maurizio

StubnibThe photo has the nib labelled as Iridium Point Germany (IPG). I kind of already know because of the five point flower the likely country of original. Are there other NIBS available for this pen?

JdjungI guess not. :(
JdjungHello, sorry for my late answer. To many pens to deliver and few time to check message... you could choose among several nib point from Extra Fine, Fine, Medium, Broad and Big Broad. Just select your preferred one when you order it. Regards from Italy Maurizio

StubnibOk at this point I'm going to make my question more detailed. On the offical Grifos site this pen is $113 but with fees and shipping likely closer to $140 to the US. The $88 dollars seems like a great price. The problem is I don't know what nib comes with it, if it's the same nib as what is on the Grifos site or who the manufacturer of the nib is. The nib on the Grifos site looks very different then the one you have listed here.

In the pen community the Five Flower IPG nibs are usually frowned upon unless tuned properly. I don't mind you not telling me the name of the manufacturer but I would prefer an option on nibs or more information on the nibs coming with this pen. Are they in fact the same nibs used if I buy the pen from Grifos directly. According to the photos they are not the same though I can be mistaken. If they are the same can you explain why the nib in the photo on the Grifos site is different then that in the Massdrop? Thank you.

JdjungI know the IPG nibs are generally decried, but if they are offered in sizes other than medium and fine/extra fine (I just ordered one in double broad, unheard of for the cheap Chinese pen makers) these nibs are definitely bespoke to this pen. I've never seen a broad or double broad IPG.
Also, some new chinese IPG nibs are unbelievable stunning writers. Moonman makes an IPG nib that is soft and bouncy like a 14k nib and writes like it came out of a fairy tale.
Honestly, this pen, made from 925 sterling silver AND run through a guilloche machine in Italy, is barely believable (though this maker is quite well respected in the fountain pen community) at this price. This pen almost seems worth its weight in silver alone, and if you dislike the nib, it is a #6, so an FPR flex nib, a goulet nib, a Knox OBB or a jowo 14k gold nib all fit this pen.
This will be my first fritos pen, but I am amazed I didn't buy one sooner based on the general consensus (overwhelmingly positive) and eagerness that the owner of this tiny 3 man shop has to engage with his customers on massdrop of all places, a site famous for it's awful customer service.

HoneybadgersHi Honeybadger,
I 100% agree with you on the quality of the Grifos pens. I have a Grifos pen as well. A ZOSS limited edition full silver pen, and it is stunning. I don't have a problem with IPG nibs, since I have had some great writers from them, it's just that I was deciding on spending a bit more on their website with a better nib. Thanks for the tip on the Moonman nibs, i'll keep an eye out for one. That sounds amazing that a nib can have the spring of a gold nib! Thank you.

JdjungIt's not a soft nib, but it has long, slender tones and a nice spring steel that keeps up with a medium-firm gold nib.
I wouldn't worry about the IPG vs a block. Bock and jowo nibs are pretty pedestrian, and unless you really want the branding to match, an aftermarket nib from nemosine or goulet will fit the bill nicely. Or, if you want a gold nib, for about 75 euros, fpnibs.com will sell (and can heavily customize, I have a 14k needlepoint full flex that is softer and wider than a waterman pink) you a 14k or 18k nib for it, including rhodium plating

JdjungI purchased this pen from massdrop in one of the recent drops, and I can assure you, it writes like a dream. My edc/work pen uses a bock nib and I cannot tell the difference between the two. Silky smooth out of the box and doesn't skip or have any problems associated with Chinese nibs. Either they are not typical chinese IPG nibs, or IPG nibs are a lot better than I thought haha.
