wanted to share my story on computer optics.. Two years ago i participated / joined a kick-start for computer and outside glasses. The sales pitch was that these glasses would protect form the "harmfull computer blue light" (dubble quote because i did sum research on this subject but not so much that i can 100% say this is true the harmfull part that is.) Besides programs like Flux on your computer could help with this problem. The second benefit would be that it functions as a pair of normal sun-glasses tinting when outside. The name of the company was http://gausseyewear.com/ after i got 3 pairs in total a hefty sum.. i finally got my glasses.. overall i'm not dissatisfied or blown away.. After that i took them to my wife's optician a small family owned company that does business with German manufactures for the most part (i live in The Netherlands).. After a few tests in my presents i quickly realized that the optician could over a better / stronger pair of glasses that protected my eyes from blue light and had the same even fater tinting function and btw looking at the screen did not turn yellow like with my gausse glasses similar to Gunnar Optiks.. In short what these companies are doing Gunnar, and Gausse, the mainstream company's can do better but at a higher price. Also the world of Optics is totally NUTS if you dive in to it.. they make all sorts of claims like hardness of the optics they sell.. But when you ask a simple question like what hardness is it ? there's no clear answer.. i asked the optician that wanted to sell me this pair of awesome looking computer /sunglasses and he talked about the number of coating i could buy.. starting from 1 layer to a max of 3 or 4 (don't exactly recall) when i asked him what hardness would it be like if i got the maximum amount of layers aka hardness ??? would it be like 9H tempered glass ?? Like "Corning Gorilla Glass 5" or even higher??? he found my question interesting.. i basically asked him "ok so your selling me this promise but what does it mean actually ? Because he had no clue he decided send my question to the manufacturer . After 5wks of waiting he basically said the manufacturer could not answer my complicated question of what am i buying ? hahahahhaa... Last thing i want to ad to my long story (sorry for that) is that i watched a show we had here called "de rekenkamer" which roughly translated means the "account room" they investigate what something really costs like what does a battery really cost and is there a difference in quality vs price one brand's claim vs the other.. Most of the time they get to the heart of the matter but this time they ran in to a major problem no ONE wanted to admit what a piece of glass actually cost them or how much work it was to fabricate a piece of glass.. hahahahha it's a close kept secret..so there is something to hide hahaha...ahhh the market system is it it grand ...
